Hyperlinked image on your facebook page using FMBL

To add a hyperlinked image to your fan page for a logo OR some other use follow these easy steps:
  • Make sure you’ve installed the staticFBML application
  • Make sure your image is the right size (max 160 pixels wide) you can resize this in either Adobe Photoshop OR similar package.
  • Load your image into a photo album on facebook even your own web server if you have one I use ImageShack for ease
  • Check out my tip HERE for help with adding SWF to your facebook page and weblogs.

To make the image appear on your fan page wall, follow these steps:
First go to your fan page and click Edit Page (just below your fan page picture)

Click the pencil icon on the right of the FBML application in your list of applications, shown here are two that I have already created.

Add the Title you want displayed above your image/icon/logo then in the FBML area, paste the following code, replacing the items in between the ” to reflect your image. Note you mayneed to can change or delete the width and height information.

<img src=”http://www.YOUR-IMAGE-URL.com/IMAGE-NAME.jpg” title=”YOUR IMAGE TITLE” width=”130′ height=”130′><br>

I have shrunk the screendump for ease, this window is much bigger. If you can't get this to work on your FMBL I have included an example below for you to test.

<a href=”http://www.retaggr.com/page/SpideRaY” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://img441.imageshack.us/i/retaggr.jpg” title=”Retagger Profile” width=”187′ height=”70′ /></a><br >

Chinese, how do I change back to English

When you log in to facebook follow the steps:

1) Very top right corner there is a round COG like icon, click it.
2) From the drop down menu, click the second item.
3) In the middle of the screen there should be 6 lines of text. The very bottom one is LANGUAGE.
4) Click the hyperlinked text.
5) Choose ENLGISH -> Save changes

If these steps do not work, try this link once you log in to facebook:

The recent Comscore report finally revealed that there's more to social advertising other than ad targeting and sponsored stories. There's a reason why the third biggest advertiser in the US, General Motors, withdrew its $10 million worth of ad budget from Facebook - Facebook ads are mere interruptions like ordinary ads. With this in mind, advertisers and marketers are treating social ads like traditional media where every click should yield a conversion rate or a measurable ROI. Social media pundits know that measuring Social ROI is still the holy grail of Social Advertising. But it seems a Like or Share is more valuable than ad clicks, this is what the Comscore report emphasized about quantifying paid and earned effects of social marketing campaigns.
Here are 3 crucial points in Comscore's report:
1.) Fans Turn Friends Into Fans
It's been a requisite for years that brands and businesses should establish their Facebook pages starting with accumulating tons of fans. Well, this isn't the case anymore, increasing fans doesn't mean you're increasing user engagement as well. The phase where a brand wants to have 100k fans on its page is already passe. Today, fans sharing a brand's content increases online awareness, this results to a fan turning a friend, relative, or random contact into a fan as well. This is how engagement coupled with user-generated content overwhelms the effectivity of paid social ads. Brands should also keep in mind that acquiring a million of fans isn't the be all and end all to achieve Social ROI, it's only the start of building a firm social media presence.

2.) User Engagement Produces User-Generated Content
A brand's Facebook page is a like a sponge. User-generated content is the lifeforce of any brand's page. Without UGC, a brand's Facebook page isn't functioning like a sponge, it should absorb as much UGC it can in order to be shared on their page. The fact that a brand's page is flowing with user-generated content is a sign that a brand is interacting well with customers. For brands, a fan page used to be a novelty, something that you should have because every brand is on Facebook. Today, a brand's Facebook page is a social monitoring center and a collaborative hub rolled into one. Social CRM is now all about customer-company collaboration aside from customer service.
3.) Click-Through Rates Don't Matter in Brand Amplification
The report said the focus on click-through rates of display ads and brand pages on Facebook downplays the impact that has on a user's friends and followers. The Comscore report says, "The idea behind amplification is that Fans who are reached with brand messages can also serve as a conduit for brand exposure to Friends within their respective social networks. Because the average Facebook Fan has hundreds of Friends, each person has the ability to potentially reach dozens of Friends with earned impressions

I am trying to hyperlink a word and pdf doc onto front page. Once I hyperlink it - it doesnt work on my actual website what am I doing wrong?

In your hyperlink you have to specify the full path to your document.
I your software makes a hyperlink to the document on your hard drive, then obviously it won't work on a website.
Example:
Your website: www.FooBar.com
your document is located in a folder "/documents/"
The hyperlink should look like
<A HREF="http://www.foobar.com/documents/thedocument.pdf">Click to download document</A>
This is the safest way.

Another important thing: in Windows, documents named Document.pdf, document.pdf, DoCuMeNt.Pdf etc. are exactly the same. On the Web however these are completely different files!
Make sure, that the name in the hyperlink is exactly the same, as it looks like uploaded to your website (via FTP for example). Look at the FTP directory after upload and note the exact capitalization of the the file name, and adjust the hyperlink. Or check the name in hyperlink and rename the file using FTP, whichever you prefer.

I was told that the problem is the Hyperlinks. I assure you the problem is not the Hyperlinks, as the Hyperlinks are directed to open documents, photos and video clips stored in a folder, and, I have no...

The smart thing about this website is that the producers don't have a 'Contact us' link, so people who have been ripped off of money cannot contact them to ask for a refund because the problem that I'd wanted resolved was not resolved at all. They claimed to be experts and they weren't even able to solve a simple issue on why an OpenOffice Writer document saved in a portable USB hard drive does not open when the portable hard drive is connected on an alien computer with a different version of OpenOffice. The answer was simple. You had to either install or download the latest version of OpenOffice software, or you upgrade the existing earlier version (if you already do have an earlier version of OpenOffice installed in your computer) to a latest version. Alternatively, you can experiment to find it out for yourself. Write a document using say Version 1.1 or later, then save the document on a portable drive (flash drive). Next, plug the drive into a computer that has the latest version of OpenOffice (3.0 or 3.1) installed, and see if it opens. Now, try the opposite, write same document on a computer that has the latest version, save on a portable drive and plug and open the document in the computer that has version 1.1, see what happens. It would either open a blank page or it wont open any page at all. FixYa experts could have advised me of this, instead they had advised me that the problem is with the Hyperlinks, when it is not. I then decided to ask an IT guy from work and, after explaining my dilemma, the problem was resolved. Yes, but, how will I get my money back now when I can't even 'contact' FixYa?

The problem is simple: the hyperlinks are pointing to documents on your "original" computer, rather than pointing to documents on your portable disk-drive, or to documents on the USB memory-stick.

So, on another computer, the hyperlink still is pointing to a file (on your computer) that no longer is accessible. Thus, only a "blank" page is being displayed.

Fix the hyperlink(s), and everything will be fine.
