Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Magenta cartridge recently replaced twice, verified full, no longer prints that one color. Check nozzle page shows nothing where magenta should appear. All other printing normal.

it sounds like the electrical connections that read the info from the cartridge and run the cartridge may be dirty with ink. unplug the printer, open the cover as if you were replacing the cartridge, remove the cartridge and use a q-tip to swab the surface that is between the cartridge and the mount a few times until the swab (q-tips) keep coming out clean. you may have to clean the cartridge side too.

Depending on when you last used your printer it may take a few head cleans before the ink prints. Print a nozzle check after each clean (uses minimal ink).

Also be aware each clean depletes your other carts as well.

I just replaced my ink cartridges for my Epson Workforce 600 printer and the magenta and yellow colors do not print. The status shows that both are still full of ink, but when I do the nozzle check,...

Try "Nozzle cleaning" and if the problem persist, try "Deep nozzle cleaning". Try them only once or else the ink will run out very quickly.
If the ink cartridges are not genuine Epson, remove them and buy genuine cartridges. If needed, repeat the procedure with them.
Non-original consumables very often clog the printhead.

I would first try cleaning the print head, it is possible that print nozzles are clogged and simply not enough ink is able to make its way onto the media.

If the nozzle check page looks good I would try printing some full bleed color pages and see what it does, it is possible, but not likely, that there is either a air bubble in the ink system that could prevent ink flow. If this is true there should be a function for "priming the print head" and it should solve the problem.

Good luck.

The lt magenta and magenta just quit printing between pages

1. Check if the cartriges are correctly installed:
Installing the Ink Cartridges

2. Print a diagnostic page and clean print heads, using the printer cleaning utility:
Color Mix or Missing Colors on the Diagnostic Page
Repeat if needed.

3. If this still doesn´t solve you problem, try resetting the printer and manually cleaning the cartrigdes as advised in this FAQ:
Ink Cartridge is Missing, Incorrectly Installed, or Not Intended for Your Device' Error Message is Displayed on the Printer

Only black and blue will print on test page; yellow and magenta does not. Ink was just replaced.

Did yellow and magenta print OK before the previous cartridges ran out? If so, it looks like your new cartridges are not working properly. Try another yellow and magenta cartridge - you can re-use the previous cartridges if they turn out not to be faulty. If new cartridges don't solve the problem, you can try soaking the print head, in case you have nozzles blocked with dried ink for some reason.

Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. Look inside the print head parking area on the right and you will see a small rubber cup that comes up to cover the print nozzles when the head is parked (to stop it drying out). Use a syringe or dropper to fill this cup with head cleaning fluid or distilled water. DO NOT USE TAP WATER. Carefully push the print head by hand fully into its parking position so that the cup full of fluid comes up over the print head. Do not turn the printer on at any stage in this process. Leave this for at least 24 hours, then turn the printer on and try a head clean/nozzle check again. If you get any magenta/yellow ink on the nozzle check, then there is hope! Repeat the head clean/nozzle check process 2 or 3 times, but not more. Leave for 24 hours for any air bubbles to disperse. If nothing, repeat the soak process once more. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results.

Epson cx7800 won't detect magenta ink.

It seems likely that either your magenta cartridge is faulty (or empty - the ink monitor doesn't show how much ink is actually left, only the amount used subtracted from a presumed full cartridge when new). The first thing to be sure of is that you have a good cartridge - install a new one. You can save the existing one for later use once things are OK again. If this produces no results, you can now be reasonably confident that you have blocked magenta nozzles. Note that putting in a cartridge and taking it out again several times will aggravate the situation by getting air into the system.

You can now try soaking the print heads for 24 hours (or more), as follows. Turn the printer on, and as soon as the print head moves out of its parking position, pull the power cord out of the back, or turn the printer off at the mains. You may now carefully move the print head by hand over to the left hand side out of the way. If nothing, repeat the process once more. If still nothing, post a new comment detailing what you have done and the results.

Magenta ibk problem

Have you tried running head-cleaning cycles? If not, try 2 or 3 followed by a nozzle check and see if magenta starts to appear. If this still produces no magenta print, or you've already tried this with no success, report back.

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Won't print red

Red is a combination of Magenta and Yellow. Print a nozzle check and observe for Magenta, Yellow and cyan. If the three colours are printed, no problem with the cartridge. Then it must be the problem of seeing colours in your monitor. .
