Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

1 Answer

We have a Whirlpool WFW8300SW Duet Sport Washer. We have been having problems with F-25 error codes coming up on the normal, quick wash and whitest whites cycles. It will run through a delicate cycle fine, normally needing additional drain and spin cycle at the end of the delicate cycle. We had a repairman come out and empty the catch next to the pump and say that was our problem and it was fixed. He left and it wasn't fixed. We have cleaned out the pump area, dismantling it and getting rid of the gunk build up in the pump, that helped the grating noise the pump had been making, but we are still getting F-25. When I try and do a clean washer cycle I get the rL code, when there is no clothing in the washer. I have pulled off every tube I can find and made sure there were no obstructions blocking anything, nothing there. I ran the Diagnostic Test and I am not sure what everything means. During Rinse/Spin, flashing light. During Clean Washer, A on Screen and flashing light, during delicates, 2 on screen and flashing light, during Quick Wash, 1 on screen and flashing light, during Normal/Casual, 1 on screen and flashing light, during heavy duty, black screen and flashing light. During whitest whites, flashed once and then the door unlocked. We are thinking it is possibly a MCU or CCU or Pressure Switch problem, but I would like a little more input before I spend money on parts. Thank you for your time!

It looks like it was a loose connection of a wire under the tub at the motor, it was a connection I had not found before. So I am trying a load now and hopefully it makes it all the way through, otherwise it looks like a new MCU for us!

Ok, I replaced the MCU and now the washer wont even start, it just door locks and I can hear clicking but it won't move on. And, the door is stuck/locked even after pressing cancel and unplugging the washer.

It looks like the top connection, the one with the 3 blue wires, the plastic piece that holds it into the MCU broke, can we get a plastic piece to replace or do we have to buy the entire wire harness system?

Aha! F25 Motor Tach error Bad MCU (motor control unit) or broken wire.
Do we do the swap parts thang or try to trace down the broken wire? Before ordering expensive parts go along the rail where the wiring harness is most susceptible to vibration and look close for signs of distress.

Relates to an electrical/electronic problem
Try the following:
Select PAUSE/CANCEL twice to cancel the cycle. Select
DRAIN/SPIN if there is excessive water in the washer.
Re-select cycle and select HOLD TO START. If the problem
remains, call for service.

Hi!

Unplug washer or disconnect power. Check the following: Are water faucets completely turned on?
