Toshiba 62HM95 62" DLP HDTV Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 31, 2011

Thought my Toshiba DLP needed bulb replaced, so I thought. New bulb did not fix issue. TV tries to come on, but cycles several times and then finally comes on (not always). I have no idea what the problem could be. No other symptoms. Color is fine.

Useally after 5 or 6 cycles. When I say cycles I'm talking about how it turns it's self on and off over and over trying to come on. Once on will work fine for hours untill I it shut off.

How long does it take for set to come on and when set is ON How Long wil it Play?

  • Anonymous Mar 31, 2011

If the Tv gets to the point Lamp will not light then problem could be Ballast Board,
Ballast board is what powers Lamp on, and if the Lamp Fan is going bad then Lamp will light and play sometimes and then it will stop coming on all toghether.
Have you made sure Tv is clear of all dust on Fans, Air vents ?

I'll take a look. Thanks. From the sound of it I believe it to be the ballast board bested on the other research I've just done on-line. Thanks for the help.

Samsung hln617w dlp tv won't turn on. Red temp

Had similar problem. Thought it was the lamp. Examined old lamp but it appeared to be good. Ordered a new one anyway. Changed the lamp but the TV screen would not come on. It would make the usual noise as it was going to come on normally but it would cycle 3 times & then turn off. The LED lights in the front panel would indicate a defective lamp. Then read about the ballast. Changed the ballast & still same problem. Tried starting the TV without the lamp installed & noticed that the color wheel did not spin. Removed old color wheel & discovered it was broken. This appears to be the cause of all of my problems. I wish I new earlier of the test-turn on the TV without the lamp being installed & check to see if the color wheel is spinning. Would have save money on the lamp & ballast.

I have a 44 inch 44nhm84 DLP. When the TV is turned on, it makes a loud humming noise that goes down in intesity twice and then finally a lesser humming noise after the picture comes on. At first I thought...

This does sound like a color wheel. To my knowlege, Toshiba does not sell the Color Wheel seporately. In short, you have to replace the Opical Block. The cost of this is very exspensive and Toshiba may not sell it to you. You may have to go through a Toshiba Service facility to obtain it. Check prices of new LCD sets before investing the money.
Hope this helps,

Problem with Toshiba DLP Projection TV Model #52HM84

It is possible the lamps may be defective or that they may be the wrong replacement for this model, as it may have a different wattage setup with the ballast. If you want to try to order the TB25 lamp from a different vendor, you can order the original Toshiba replacement lamp for this model (52HM84) from a major Toshiba parts distributor at the link below:

Toshiba 52HM84 DLP TV with new bulb but the lights keep blinking

They exact way the lights blink are telling you what the failure is. If the tv is firing the lamp and the lamp is bad, you will hear a buzz sound for about 1 second. The tv tries 8 times before it gives up and spits out the lamp error. Check the user manual for led diagnostics. If you put in a new lamp but still have issues, you've likely got a bad ballast (most common on this model) or colorwheel (less common). Both are part of the optical block (light engine) and I don't believe they're available as individual components from toshiba.

50? Samsung DLP TV Model #HLR-5067W

Did you use an original replacement lamp or an aftermarket replacement? From the price you give, it sounds like an aftermarket lamp, which are notoriously buggy and the problem may be with the lamp. If not, the lamp driver is your next likely culprit. It is also called a lamp power supply or lamp ballast.

How long does a lamp/bulb of a Toshiba DLP 46HM95 46 in last?

Your bulb may be blowing because of airflow issues or power cycling issues, first does your outlet get switched off at any point in time? if so you may be killing the bulb before it cools, if you turn the set on/off alot and or restart it after off quickly this could lead to permature bulb failure, if the original lamp was not replaced with a proper lamp to match the ballast it could blow the bulb. If your tv is too near a heat vent or the airflow thru the set is not adequate it could blow the bulb.
