The only option you can try is reset the player because the processor is locked up, all MP3 players have a reset switch located somewhere on the chassis, look for a small hole that a safety pin can fit through, next! push the pin in and hold for 60 seconds to drain any residual charge and reset the processor ic. If it works you are up and running, if not! it is time to consider replacing the item.

My brother gave me his old apple ipod (20GB). Now I have not used it hardly at all, but today I found it. It has been plugged into the charger for a looooooooonnnnng time (perhaps months) I went to turn...

Well lots of people come across this problem. Try connecting the Ipod to your computer and then press the critical button and the menu button simultaneously. Hold on to it for about 10-15 seconds and you might find your Ipod working.

My apple 20gb ipod it does'nt work and apple logo appear on screen.i do reset my ipod and after that it turns to normal but after a minute it hang up and apple logo appear.

It sounds like you may need a new hard drive for your iPod. The Apple logo appearing over and over can signify that your iPod cannot communicate with the hard drive where your music is stored.
You can find replacement drives on websites like ebay or by searching Google.
Hope this helps!

Try a reset:

How to reset iPod To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including:iPod nano (3rd generation) iPod classic iPod (5th generation) iPod nano (2nd generation)iPod nano iPod with color display (iPod photo) iPod (Click Wheel) iPod mini iPod mini (2nd generation)

Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds.

You may need to repeat this step. Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

To reset iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), and iPod (dock connector)Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons simultaneously until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

If you are still unable to reset your iPod, use only one finger from one hand to press the Center (Select) button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Menu button. When you reset iPod all your music and files are saved, but some customized settings may be lost. Date and time is preserved (unless the iPod reset itself because it had no power and then was reconnected to power). Other customized settings, such as Bookmarks, On-The-Go Playlists, Shuffle, Backlight timer, and so forth are preserved from the last time the hard drive turned on.

Hope this helps

Apple Ipod 20gb re-set problem

My ipod did this. That symbol means corrupted files which probably means you need to format your ipod. Mine also continued to freeze which is caused by a slightly warped harddrive. Open it up by prying loose the edges w/ a guitar pick or butter knife, take a business card and fold it in half and place it between the HDD and the foam to add pressure to the HDD. Should fix your problem.

Click Wheel

This usually happens if the iPod wheel is defective, sometimes caused by getting in contact with water sometimes simply through wear and tear. If you're out of warranty, There are specialized online tutorials with iPod Repair instructions that will guide you through the steps of taking it apart and replacing the wheel altogether otherwise you'll have to send it to any third party iPod repair service and they'll replace the wheel for you.
