Acer aspire 1642 frozen mouse

Connect an external USB mouse to get at least the cursor to work, then download the latest touch pad drivers from Acer's site

Check that you have not disabled the mouse pad (FN and F7?)

If that fails, you may need to dismantle the laptop and check the small ribbon cable that connects the touch pad to the motherboard has not come adrift.

After that it looks like physical failure of the trackpad / touch pad assembly

I have a Toshiba LapTop Windows 7 My granddaughter pushed keys and now i can't get the cursor to move. I have tried shutting down and it is still frozen in the middle .

Are you using the trackpad to manipulate the cursor, or are you using an external mouse?

If you're using the trackpad, it may be as simple as using the Fn keys and the corresponding F keys at the top of the keyboard to enable the trackpad feature again. If that doesn't work, try plugging in an external mouse via USB port to see if that works.
If you're using an external mouse, then try to see if the cursor moves while using the trackpad.

Hopefully one of these options will give you control back over your cursor again.

How can I disable the trackpad to only use an external mouse? Toshiba laptop (Satellite)

For most Toshiba laptops, you should be able to hit FN+F9, and it will disable the touch pad. If that doesn't work, go to your Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Mouse, and disable it there. Hope this helps!

Truthfully i got my ibook g4 used & not in working order, took it to mac store& was told don't waist my time!!!! So with that advice i bought a new harddrive& waallaa it wrks. However my mouse...

First of all, any kind of repairs done to this machine. Will will be very costly. But if you want to spend the money and the time. You can take the computer apart and check the trackpad and mouse button. You are looking for connection quality. Look for corrosion of the connectors, water damage, and sticky residue. Cleaning all of these things up with rubbing alcohol may help but, it's not guaranteed. You might have to replace the trackpad and mouse button.
Your best bet is to check an online auction site for a old machine that you can use for parts. Good luck.

Mousepad on my toshiba m305-s4910 not working -usb dice working fine though

Maybe its disabled. Does it have a button right above or next to that trackpad that disables it?

Check in your control panel settings under mouse. Go to start>control panel>mouse. , then hardware tab. Then choose properties and driver tab. Make sure that drivers are installed.

If that doesnt work, install drivers for it again. Right click on my computer>manage>device manager. Right click on your mouse/trackpad under mice and other pointing devices and uninstall. Right click on your computer name on top and choose scan for hardware changes....that should do it.

Good luck

There is sometimes a switch to disable the built in mouse/trackpad when using an external mouse, you can also check mouse properties in control panel

Scroll on mouse pad was working is not any more

Well it any of the following: cable inside the laptop has come loose from the trackpad, you (or someone else accidentally disabled the trackpad) or that the trackpad has gone bad. Try to hook up an external mouse (for the time being) to allow you to either change the mouse settings, or use your computer until you can get the trackpad replaced/repaired.

Suddenly my mouse and roller bar stopped working

Fn + F7 (or thereabouts)
Usually enables/diables built-in trackpad for those who use an external mouse but keep accidentally moving the built-in trackpad while typing.

Apple iBook G4 Track Pad (Mouse) not funtioning

I think the first thing you should do is make all updates. I know that in some versions of the iBook G4, the trackpad does not work after installing OS X 10.4 (Tiger) before you do the updates. Update your OS X first. secondly, does the button work? Does the trackpad show up in the System Preferences menu? (under keyboard and mouse). It's very unlikely that the trackpad came unhooked unless someone has opened up your computer. If they have, there is a really good chance that they didn't plug it back in, because it's a hassle and easy to forget.
