I cant play music from my laptop to my sony dav tz130

Usually the only direct audio output from a laptop is through the stereo mini-jack for headphones. This would employ a standard sterteo cable to the audio input jacks on the rear panel of your Sony, but if those inputs on the Sony are already in use then you can't use that option. However, you might look at external USB sound cards which plug into a USB port on the laptop. These external sound devices may have a USB output to go to your TV as well.

I have a Realtek audio chip on an Asus motherboard and a set of 5.1 speakers installed on my pc. I have set up my sound settings at 7.1 in order to play all speakers. They all heard when I check them...

If your motherboard audio chip supports 7.1 audio then it should support 5.1 too. If so then go for 5.1 since choosing 7.1 and using a 5.1 system will result in loss of audio as you are missing two channels (6 channels on 5.1 and 8 channels on 7.1). The 5.1/7.1 option through the sound settings should emulate surround audio through almost all players. For VLC, try the following:
  1. Go to [Preferences]--->Check [Advanced Options]
  2. Then expand [Audio] and select [Output Modules]
  3. Change [Audio Output Module] to [Win32 WaveOut]
  4. Click save and restart VLC
Hope that helps. If not try Media Player Classic instead of VLC. It supports 7.1 and other surround audio by default.

Hi. Today I bought a 3 foot audio y-cable and an RCA (Phono) Female to RCA (Phoneo) Female cable so that I could hook up these two speakers that I have that belong to a predisian sound system (boom box)...

All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

There is no sound device installed on my computer

Mercury P4VM800M7
Check the Audio jumpers on the motherboard.
See page 1, (AUDIO1). There should be two jumpers over pins 9&10 and pins
5&6 for the rear audio ports to function. See pages 17 in you’re manual for a closer look.
Next check the bios. See pages 30 in you’re manual.
Bios, Audio setting should be set to [Enabled]. Save and exit the bios.
Open windows control panel than open Sound and Audio Devices icon.
Check the Audio tab and the Voice tab. Both should list as AC'97.
If not re-install you're audio software from the CD that came with you're MB.
OR you can download it from the link provided below;

http://download.cnet.com/Audio-Realtek-ALC655-AC-97-AUDIO/3000-2110_4-168843.html
If you still receive feed-back try another speaker system. (Still no change)? Audio controller is defective. Replace with a PCI sound card.

Cheers'
Mike

When i play a game such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Xbox 360. The sound works, like you can hear the water flowing, aircraft etc etc, all that is is fine. But when it comes to audio of different ...

Most of the sounds you are hearing good are background sounds. If you are running a surround system, you might want to try adjusting the output of your primary speakers, checking for the correct setting on your receiver, and verifying that your central audio is in the correct section ( receiver output ).

If you are not using surround sound,
Check the in-game menu (Pause) for an audio section, some games allow you to turn the character voices up and the music down. If you don't have that option, try using a new output cord from your xbox to Tv.

In order to get the IML237 Orbit USB speakers to work onan apple computer, you must change the settings in system preferences.
1.click on the apple icon
2.click on system preferences
3.click on sound
4.click on output
(veryimportant! the speaker MUST be plugged into the USB port in order to show onthe "select a device for sound output" list.)
5.the IML237 Orbit USB speakers will show up under, "USB Sound Device"
6.click on "USB Sound Device"
7.play some music on itunes
Nowthe speakers will automatically be detected when you plug in the speakers. Youshould not have to re-adjust the settings.

Noise coming out of speakers connected to Denon AVR 1908

Check for nearby wireless devices and move them away. -If the audio output from the source device (i.e. DVD, CD player) is digital (i.e. PCM, DTS or Dolby Digital) you're on your own. I'd be willing to bet the output is analog (red and white RCA), because the "beeps" and "exploding sounds" you describe seem like it could be caused by interference. Try replacing the cables. Otherwise the issue is probably with your receiver.

Winamp/bluetooth/plantronics p590

I have found that winamp doesn't automatically output through any hands-free headphones, therefore you need to go into Preferences on Winamp (Ctrl+P), go to:
-Plugins/Output
-select Nullsoft DirectSound Output -->configure
-select Device tab
-select 02: Bluetooth Hands-Free Audio
-click apply
If music is already playing, click STOP then PLAY, pause will not do it.

I have been looking for this fix all day on the internet, but finally worked it out myself.
Hopefully this post will make someone else's day less stressful!
