The easiest work around for this one is to let the battery be drained, like leave it on until the battery dies, then leave it off no power over night, then after that charge the unit once again, this will refresh the operation of your iPod, and you will be able to use it again.

if you should have other questions just let me know.

SOURCE: Apple Ipod Nano does not play songs

It could be that the Format type is not supported. Like OGG isnt supported. I would look into using a different OS on it like Podzilla or RockBox

Nano is frozen in a song. No sound. Won't shut down or respond to any function. Doesn't show up on computer when plugged into USB.

Have you already attempted to reset the iPod?
If not you will want to attempt that as your first step towards resolving this issue.
To do so you will need to simply press and hold both the center and menu buttons for at least ten seconds or until the apple icon appears on the screen.
If this does not resolve your issue please do let me know.

Ipod nano 8GB 3rd generation FROZEN!

You need to reset your ipod. Flip the hold switch on then off, then press select button and menu button at same time. Hold for 10 seconds or so. Ipod should shut off and reboot to apple screen. If this doesn't work first time try again. This should solve any stuck screen problems. Mine was stuck on pioneer screen and this operation fixed it.

Press and hold the center button while holding down the menu button. This will reboot your Ipod. Check your IPod cable to see if its shorted. If might have transferred a song and crash in the middle of the transfer.

Ipod nano

You need to do a reset.

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.
