I have a 1986 Fleetwood Motorhome with Coleman Delta T air conditioners. The compressors cycle on and off at aproximate 1 minute cycles. I cleaned the condenser coils and there is plenty of air flowing through on each unit. What is the propable cause. Ross

Freezing up have to manuely cycle compressor

3 things could be the cause,
1 low on freon,
2blockage in the metering device
3 blockage in the air flow
The only one of the above that can be checked without special tool is the blockage in air flow. Check the coils on the inside of the unit to make sure they are clean and dirt free. Now do the same to the outer coil. If the coils look in good shape then you will need to contact an a/c tech for checks on the first two problems.

After a cooling cycle, when the thermostat call for more cooling, it take up to 5 minutes after the air handler starts for the compressor motor to restart. The top fan operates on the outside unit, but...

No, this cycle cannot be shortened due to the simple fact that this feature is in place to protect your system. Even if it could be, I wouldn't recommend it.

It is definitely with the compressor. It should more like you may have a weak winding in the compressor, you can a hard start capacitor (sp5 ) that will help the compressor on restart. Note that this is a last chance solution for a compressor.

Compressor wont start

It is probably a failed run capacitor for the compressor. Without the capacitor, the motor can't even try to run, but it will draw extreamly high amperage until it trips the thermal overload (avarage trip time 5-10sec) after it has a few second for the safety to cool off, it will try again. Either that or the compressor truly is seized
