First place I'd look is where the source cable is connected to the unit. Breaker off, of course.

Sounds like you have a multi-meter -- is that correct ?

If you wish to dialogue on this as you go thru it, feel free.

Hello Arlon811,

I understand that you have a Frigidaire Gas Range that you have a direct short in. I would be glad to give you some advice on where to look for your direct short.

I notice you have a meter, I would start by check the contunity from each prong of the plug to the frame of the unit. Check the terminal block that the power cord goes to and slowly move my way to the back of the instrument pannel. The last thing I would check is the light sockets. The sensors on the unit should run on low voltage so I would stay to the wires that run high voltage.

Thank you for choosing

Frigidaire Range - Model #PLGFMZ98GC - Beeping

Turn or unplug from wall, let sit for five minutes then plug back in. If unit is ok and then in a day or two does it agin or starts beeping agin, then replace clock control. Common problem with this unit after about two years of use. Usually caused by defective touch pad or "endless loop" in programing code of micro-processor. One other problem, is if you had just used the self cleaning mode, then you may have a oven lock problem, doubtful though, clock control is majority of prob on these units.

Trips breaker when plugged in

If it still does, you have a dead short in the electrical system of the dryer. Don't try to use it until you get it fixed. It could start a fire.

My Whirlpool refrigerator trips the main breaker of 40 Amps

A refrig cannot pull 40 amps in defrost , unless there is a direct short in the defrost system ( timer , heater , bimetal ) . I would use an extention cord ( for test purposes only ) , and try a different plug . Sounds like the circuit breaker is weak . In defrost , the MOST you should get , is 6 amps . This will not throw a 40 amp breaker . If you have an amp meter , remove the back refrig panel behind the refrig , and connect to one of the power cord lines (just not the green ground ) , turn into defrost and check the amps . This will tell you if short is in refrig , or weak breaker .

Oven fuse blows - Nothing works

try lifting the stove top assy and checking wires under main top, leading to the elements them selves??? if tis tripping and not allowing to reset its gotta be an obvious short. isit hard wired directly to stove or into a 220 cord and plug???id look again, perhaps remove entire back panel and have someone trip on the breaker you might see where it flashes as it trips off

Fiigidaire gas oven trips power when I turn oven on

disconnect the wires going to the oven ignitor, turn the unit on see if its trips.if so the ignitor is shorted if not then disconnect the wires that go to the coil of the gas valve and do the same.i think either one of these is your problem.also if theres a fan in the oven do the same.
