Question about Toshiba Satellite 2410-S205 Notebook
Verify that you are using the original windows operating system reinstallation CD and not a recovery or restore disk. you will need to boot from the OS CD by changing the boot configuration in BIOS which will prompt you to press any key to boot from CD. let the files load and once you get to the welcome page press enter. It will prompt you to choose which windows installation you want to log on to press 1 then enter. it should prompt you to put in the administrator password. if you did not setup the hidden administrator with a password just press enter. on the command prompt type cd \ then hit enter to go to the C:\ prompt. type in CD "system volume information".type in CD _resto~1. type DIR and check the number for the last RP folder. type in CD RP(last RP#) . type in CD snapshot. type "copy system c:\windows\system32\config" then enter. reboot.

Do not press r at the first startup screen, allow it to continue all the way through. When it gets to the point where its going to reinstall it should say searching for previous windows installations and ask you if you wish to repair it. Click yes and it will do just that

Theres a corrupt file already in your system and needs to reformat and setup, this is the best solution for this one because this can be a cause of virus, even with the recovery cd the virus will still function so the best thing to do is to format and setup it again:
heres how to do the setup:
1. insert the windows XP, VIsta or 7 CD
2. upon turning on the laptop, wait for the press any key to boot from CD, then press any key.
3. the setup will now open, follow the steps of the setup afterfards.
if your laptop first boot is not the CD then enter the bios setup by pressing F2 or Del when powering ON the laptop then goto to Boot Device priority menu. set the first boot to be the CD or DVD Rom.
