Question about Dell Inspiron E1505 Notebook

1 Answer

Dead Screen Thanks, Steve. May I ask a dumb question? Which key is the Fn key??? I know which one the switch monitor mode is, but the Fn?? If an external display works fine, would the regular screen also display if it were working? That is, would the signal go to both? What I am trying to determine is if the external screen DOES work, that the interpreter is functioning properly. The screen is pitch dark. How often do these bulbs fail and is it really that hard to replace? I used to install mainfames in the 1980s (God, I'm old) and I'm very handy....THANKS!!

Hi
Usually on laptop keyboards there is a key marked Fn and it is usually in a colour that matches the colour of the special symbols which are on the F1,F2,F3 keys.
The monitor function key may be Fn+F3 for instance - look for a coloured hollow square on one of the Fx keys.
Usually when you hold down the Fn key and press the Fx key, it toggles between, LCD to LCD+external to external only.
