SOURCE: Replaced hard drive on HP

I would check in device manager (control panel) and see if the network card is listed. It probably has a yellow exclamation point next to it. If there is an exclamation point there, then right click the card and click uninstall. Next, using your wifi to access the internet, download the latest network card driver from the PC vendor website / Motherboard vendor site / discrete network card site.
Install the network card driver and you should be back in business.

SOURCE: HP Laser 4L driver for USB port

Not all USB adapters are the same, you need the one that is made for your printer, I would try a different adapter before going too deep, because when you plug it in your computer should see it even without drivers.

You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model computer and the XP Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Use this link to download the drivers :-

Hp 5500 printer

The HP Color LaserJet 5500 and the DesignJet 5500 are older printers with a parallel port on the basic model. A network card was added or available as an after-market add-on; this would connect to a router or network switch. Assuming you have the basic model and your laptop is new enough to only have USB ports, you need a USB to parallel port adapter. http://www.amazon.com/electronics/dp/B0007UVRVO is one model. (Note: the parallel port on the printer is a bi-directional port; you will need an adapter with bi-directional communication.)

I hope this helps.

(According to the HP site, the driver for the LaserJet 5500 should be available from the Windows 7 Windows Update feature. For Windows 8, you will need to download and install the Dot4 program before the printer will work. We have bought a new packard bell computer and cannot use our HP deskjet printer as the cables do not fit .Is there anything we can do?

If your printer is parallel and your computer only has USB ports, you need only get a USB>Parallel adapter cable and follow the install instructions with it. Any computer store should carry them.

I have HP Laserjet 4000 PCL6 printer with parallel port only. I purchased a parallel to USB cable to try and get it to work, but there seems to be no way to get it to print. There is no option for setting...

Many USB to Parallel, and USB to Serial adapters/cables just don't work well, due to the processing 'overhead' in the software of the drivers for these devices.

The parallel (or serial) device at the end of the cable just doesn't 'see' responses quick enough, so asumes it not to be connected to anything.

Network adapters are plentiful and cheap for these printers. Perhaps this is the solution.

Can the P2055d be connected with a parallel lead?

Most HP's if they have a port for parallel, it is a special plug on the back that looks more like a SCSI plug. If your printer has this plug you need the special cable, otherwise you will need an adapter to convert USB to parallel.

Lp 2844 will not work with my new laptop

You need a piece of software to create a Virtual com port, make sure you have the comms set correctly 9600, n, 8, 1 and print to that port, you will find it clearly marked in Device Manager. You can get a parallel to USB cable then you can use your driver set to LPT1

Cannot find vista drivers for my canon bjc-80, any help would be great.

Now that is a tall order. Finding drivers for a bubble jet printer. My best bet is that you'll need to contact the manufacturer of the printer and ask them if any such updates are available.

Vista do however have a large driver database.

Here is a link. Download and try. Do hope this help.

HP LaserJet II p Plus will not print

Hi,

I am assuming that you are using Vista. Based on your post/description:
1. the HP Compaq 6710b has no parallel port;
2. the HP LaserJet IIP Plus is only capable of either serial or parallel connection;
3. hence you're attempting a USB to Parallel interface;
4. the printer is installed in your notebook and is set to USB port;
5. from the printer a test print can be performed but not from the Printer Properties in your notebook;
6. all printing jobs initiated from the notebook results in an "Error".

With the above in mind, may I point/suggest that:
a. Windows Vista driver will only enable your HP LaserJet IIP Plus' basic functions to work. It is not 100% compatible;
b. alternately, you can try using the XP installation CD/drivers of the printer;
c. the compatibility issue may be compounded by the USB to parallel interface;
d. the USB to parallel interface may be hampered by a known Vista USB issue;
e. you can try patching/updating the Vista USB driver. Since this has been a recognized issue with Vista, Microsoft has posted a fix for this here or here.
f. verify that the printer does not display a 22 or 40 Error.

If the printing concern has not been rectified after completion of the above procedures, you may need to:
i. download and install HP Universal PostScript Print Driver; or
ii. consider using a wireless print server connected to the parallel port of the printer; or
iii.consider replacing your printer. Sorry.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
