Question about Topeak Cycling

Open Question

I just got a Speacialized roadhog with a Planet Bike Eco rack. My old Topeak bag for my stolen Raleigh is really a tight fit. Can you recommend a better bag for this combination besides raising the seat? I have bandy little legs.

They ought to. Bicycle components are quite universal. You may run into a part or two which won't fit (front derailleurs have to fit frame design [especially on full-suspension bikes] as well as tube diameter), and you must bear in mind that the geometry of the new frame will most assuredly be different, so your handlebars and stem may no longer be familiar or comfortable to you. Good luck!

SOURCE: back ache, can handlebars be raised? - How?

The stem can only raised safely within the steerer tube end to a line etched on its quill. There are stem extenders or even fixed-angle higher stems.

The sccret to getting a quill stem to move is to loosen the center (vertical bolt a few turns and then rap it down with a mallet to unseat the expander wedge inside the steerer tube.

It's possible your frame is sized improperly for you and your preferred riding position.

I would recommend you go to a real Bicycle Shop for those assessments.

If you need a longer seat post go to trift stores and dumps and find an old exercise bike. The seat post off of that would be the longest around.

SOURCE: I want to buy baskets

No doubt these two products are good and popular, but the problem is there is no instructions about how you assemble those baskets. It would be better to consult with your local shop or you can try with other products. You can find different products here :,'s-Cranbrook-Cruiser-Bike/products?CLT=SCH,

Fit tourguide bag

Have the mounting clips/straps? If so, wrap them around handlebars, and top of forks. If not try duct tape, or throw it away and buy one with straps.

Is there a way that I can fit more clothes into a duffel bag?

There are a few things that you can do to fit more clothing into a duffel bag, you can use space or vaccum pack bags to get air out of the clothing. You can roll your clothes so that they are packed more tightly. If you are flying you want to keep inmind that while you can fit more in your bag doesn't mean you should because air lines charge a lot for over weight luggage.

The ecosak website has some really nice organic cotton bean bags or you could try the Kilpatrick design website that fills their bean bags with more eco-friendly reclaimed shredded foam.

How do I take off my topeak baby bike seat and rack? My children have out grown it & a friend wants to buy it!

There should be just four bolts to remove. Two behind the bike saddle and two down near the rear axle. You can contact customer support at for more help or you can bring to your local bike shop where they can remove it for it.

I have a mens schwinn midmoor bike that I'm trying to find a rear rack for. Where do I attach the rack at under the seat? Do I need a seat clamp attachment? What size? I'd appreciate any help! :) ...

The most secure and sway-free type would be one that bolts to the bike at at least three points, not simply clamping the seatpost.

Blackburn and Topeak make some nice ones. They mostly bolt to those pre-drilled holes above and behind the rear axle and most say what wheel-size bike they will fit plus they have a range of adjustment (usually via bendable metal braces) for reaching that key third point near the top of the seatstays or brake bridge.

How can I lock this to my bike?

You can use a cable/lock and run it through the bike frame and then the slots on the rack (assuming it has slots which most do) when you leave it parked. If you get along enough cable then you can even use this to lock your bike as well. The only other solution is to use 1 way bolts to tighten the rack to the seatpost....however, as teh name implies be aware that these can only be removed by drilling them out. good luck

On Saddlebags for 86 Shadow VT500

You do need brackets OR solid bags. Standard brackets can be recommended by the shop where you purchase. The brackets keep the bags out of the wheel and off the fender. ( I really wanted the real leather ... but I settled for the synthetic leather. $400 difference)

You might pay a little more at the Honda shop but there will be no quibbling about this or that. They know your bike and what will fit.

You can buy at other motorcycle shops but the stuff at the Honda shop is there to fit Hondas.

Thanks for using

Positive comments appreciated

How do you mount the baby seat to your bike?

There should be instructions with it but if you have any doubts please, please take it to a cycle shop. You'll have to pay for it to be fitted but do you really want to mess around with a baby seat?
