Boot the computer into "Safe Mode".

To boot PC into Safe Mode follow these steps:

1. Turn the computer on or Restart the computer
2. Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Boot Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
3. Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected, not Repair Your Computer
4. Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
5. When you are finished with troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would

If the computer boots into Safe Mode you can try disabling Startup Programs, one of these might be causing your computer to freeze. To do this follow these steps:

1 Press Start. Type msconfig into the search bar and press Enter. For XP, click on Run and type msconfig there.

Sorry I accidentally posted the unfinished set of instructions, here's the continuation

    2. Go to Startup tab and uncheck all of the Startup Programs there.
    3. Restart PC the normal way you restart it.
    4. If the problem disappears, try enabling Startup Programs one by one to determine the cause of the issue.

However if the same issue exists even by disabling all Startup Programs, try booting into Safe Mode again and perform a System Restore. Restore Windows back into a date to when it was working. Check the link below for instructions.

    Hope this help. Goodluck.

Where can i get a recovery disk for L675-S7048

If anyone needs the recovery discs for Toshiba L675-S7062 laptop I have them. It's actually 4 DVDs and I'd be happy to mail them to you for the price of the blank DVDs and postage. I understand how frustrating it is to get your hands on these when you did not initally make the recovery discs when prompted to do so.

its a common thing for a vista based system to freeze after some updates , and my good advice to you is you better dont place too many applications on the startup , and avoid unwanted updating , ie8 is one such thing . if u have an option better switch to windows 7 , its really fast on notebook computers . install only defender updates from windows.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all.
