The board you will be working on is the signal module. The signal module is the board on the floor of the TV. When you locate the RCA connections and the RF connectors on the back of the TV, you will know that you are where you should be. You will see two large silver fins, these fins are heat sinks and two ICs are attached to them. They will be STK-392-110, and both will need replaced. Also check and measure the 6.8 ohm 2 watt resistors next to these ICs just mentioned. Should be ten or eleven resistors. Replace as necessary. The next problem you describe is a halo effect on the screen and no menu on screen. You will need to replace contaminated fluid in one of the picture tubes. You will find three picture tubes, lit, they are red, green, and blue. I would suspect the blue has the contaminated fluid. You may look in the tubes and decide which one is cloudy. For more detailed instructions and photos, I would suggest you see the website, www.TvRepairKits.com. H ave your TV model number and symptoms near by. You can purchase a kit or kits to restore your TV. The instructions are very detailed along with photos as how to repair. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Bowed screen at top

Is It the screen (the plastic/glass) or the picture that is bowed? If it is the front screen, you just need to re-install the screen in the frame. If it is the picture you need to get the projector re-aligned.

How to format my PHILIPS flat screen. I want the picture to be full screen

On the picture menu, you can select between 16:9, 4:3, zoom 1, zoom 2, etc. Depending on the station you are watching and whether or not it is an HD station, selecting zoom 1 or zoom 2 on your TV remote might give you full screen. Otherwise, on some DISH remotes there is a format or zoom button that will also change the size of the picture.

CAN ANYONE HELP i'm having a problem keeping the timer from going off and shutting the whole tv off. My kp-46wt510 sony widescreen from 2003 is doing the same thing, picture is bowed in the middle and...

Hi,

Most likely you have turned on the sleep function. 2nd button from the left on the top of the remote hand unit. Keep pressing until "sleep off" appears on-screen.

Or

Timer in user's menu is activated to turn off TV a specific time. Go to timer menu and adjust timer, then push cancel on the remote, this should reset timer to zero. Same with current time, adjust and select cancel, this should reset current time.

If you do not have the original remote, you are in trouble. Service tech will have remote.

I have a Philips 51PW9303 Rear Projection TV that had blue shadows around the sides of the screen and now has a green and red bowed line at bottom. Does I need a convergence board to solve this?

If the following doesn't work the tubes could be at the end of life:
Adjusting convergence:
Note: For best results, the Projection TV needs to be turned on for 15 minutes or longer before adjusting the picture tubes (convergence).

To adjust the convergence of the picture tubes:
  1. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button on the remote.
  2. Press CURSOR RIGHT to enter the PICTURE menu.
  3. Use CURSOR DOWN and RIGHT to select and enter MANUAL CONVERGE.
  4. Press CURSOR RIGHT to select CONVERGE RED or press CURSOR RIGHT and DOWN to select CONVERGE BLUE.
  5. A crosshair will be shown on the screen. If there is any red or blue fringe around the crosshair, use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, DOWN to try and merge the fringe colors with the crosshair.
  6. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button to return to MANUAL CONVERGE menu.
  7. Press the 'EXIT' button to exit the menu.
If you are satisfied with the convergence you may stop now. Otherwise, you can continue and adjust the convergence more using mult ipoint convergence.
To Adjust multipoint convergence:
  1. Press the 'MENU/SELECT' button on the remote.
  2. Use CURSOR RIGHT to enter the PICTURE menu.
  3. Use CURSOR DOWN and RIGHT on the cursor ring to select and enter MANUAL CONVERGE.
  4. Press CURSOR RIGHT and DOWN on the cursor ring to select MULTIPOINT RED or MULTIPOINT BLUE.
  5. A grid of crosshairs will appear on the screen. If there is any red or blue fringe around any of them, press CURSOR RIGHT to enter NAVIGATE mode.
  6. Use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN to move to a crosshair that has a color outline.
  7. Press the 'EXIT' button to enter ADJUST mode.
  8. Use CURSOR RIGHT, LEFT, UP, and DOWN to merge the color with the crosshair.
  9. Press the 'STATUS/EXIT' button to return to NAVIGATE mode. Repeat as necessary.
  10. Press the 'MENU' button to return to the MANUAL CONVERGE menu.
  11. Press CURSOR DOWN until SAVE MULTIPOINT is selected.
  12. Press CURSOR RIGHT to save the multipoint settings.
  13. Press the 'EXIT' button to exit the menu.
