Question about Samsung LN-S4692D 46 in. LCD HDTV

I had the same problem with my Samsung LN-S4692D 46 inch TV. After 17months, the picture went black, but the sound was fine. I calledSamsung and told them about the problem, but they said it was out ofwarranty. That is when I researched the problem online and found thissite and realized LOTS of people were having the exact same problem.

You posted this above and we appear to be having a similar issue with our Samsung LNT 5265FX 52" model after 14 mths. What part of the country do you live in and did Samsung put up much of a fight? We've tried to reason with them but they don't appear to be as understanding as the people you spoke with.

The first person I talked to was not helpful at all. You need to ask to speak to someone in executive customer service. Tell them that you have researched it on the internet and it several people have had the same issue with that TV. Because I had my receipt, they agreed to extend my warranty and have someone come out and fix it. The warranty is only extended three months beyond the repair. It took about 4 weeks to get it fixed because we are in a rural area of Tennessee.

They did fix it, but from what I have read online, I expect it will happen again in another 18 months. They will not fix again - they already told me that. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product again.

If you look back through the postings on the fixya site, you will see where someone has posted the phone number to call, but if you just call Samsung and ask to speak to someone in executive customer service, that should work.

Hi, i have a fairly new samsung 46" tv with sound but no picture


Please check in dark room condition if you can see the light come up in the background of the tv LCD. If you can see light it would be a T-Con board or main board problem. I think those tv had some issues with the T-con board.

first guess would be the inverter circuit board. If you decide to replace it your self, please be carefull as there is hight voltage on this part. All connections should be done with the tv disconnected from outlet. Search results for LN S4692D

You can call 1-800-samsung to find out if your unit is covered under a special warranty for this problem. A couple of capacitors have failed on the power supply board and need to be replaced.

The back light inverter board may have gone out or it is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply module. Start checking for voltage feeding the inverter board.

you need a T-con board, if there is no backlights at all it could be the power supply

can purchase just t-con board online for small fee and replace yourself. ShopJimmy.com
ours went out after 5 months and it was still under warranty. samsung wanted us to send it to them and it would have cost me $70. i just bought the part online for $20. way better deal

I had a problem with a Samsung 46 inch LCD and it had audio and dim light but no picture and found out that the logic board toward the top (inside tv) was bad and was no longer available and the only way to fix it was to get the entire display panel (the logic board came with it) It was not costwise to repair. Hope this helps.

before you give up..call samsung directly, they are very consumer oriented and if it is only a couple months out of warranty you might get them to repair it,, 1 800 samsung

Pro pixel LCD tv has sound but not picture, can see a flash when it is turned on but goes black
