When powering up i get the acer screen with option to enter set up, my son has now put a password on the set up which he cant remember,so im now lolcked out of set up! please tell me if there is way to disable the set up password,or is there a way round?? any help would be much appriciated. thank you. my laptop is an acer travelmate 3270.

There is no way to recover a lost password without erasing the device.

First, turn your tablet off. Then, power the tablet back up by holding down the volume (either + or - ) and power buttons simultaneously. Continue holding the volume button until the screen says "Booting tablet in recovery mode." This will give you a picture of an Android. Tap the android, and you will be given a screen with several options. Move between the options with the + and -, and select with the power button.

Go to the option for Factory Data Reset and select it. Scroll down to Yes, and then the tablet will erase its memory back to factory settings. Once it has completed, select Reboot Tablet Normally.

Return to OS Choices Menu Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice select safe mode with command prompt Click start run type cmd press Enter black screen should open DOS mode this will vary depending on your operating system type in net user username For eg. If you want to change administrator password , type net user Administrator It will prompt you to enter the new password. try system recovery you will lose data but you can always save what is in my document in user data. orr you dont want to go on that road that you can always buy password re setter software.

Restart your computer, when you see your computer manufacturs logo pop up, start pressing the F8 button on your keyboard. Some options will pop up onn your screen, useing the up and down arrows on your keyboard, scroll down to the option "safemode with networking" and press enter. After a few minutes your login screen should pop up with two admin. accounts, one password protected, one not, click on the open admin account, do not be alarmed by the way everything looks, your in safe mode. From in here, go to control panel/user accounts, select yours and choose the "remove password" option. Your done. Restart your computer, select your account from the login screen - and you will be let in.

Locate and download a program called "OPHCRACK"

Insert disc and restart computer:

Set your bios to start from the CD:


Just press F8 or whatever the screen says for the BIOS settings and/or options..
Set the boot option order to CD first rather than second or third.

The program will run and it will start to recover the passwords(s)

During the boot up process you will see on the screen press delete to enter set up

Press delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password you can change or remove your password from there

Power on pc->immediately start tapping the F8 key on keyboard->select safe mode->press enter->login as administrator(password might be blank, u can give it a try).If successful u would be on a desktop screen with safe mode on all four corners.Now go to start->control panel->useraccounts->select ur son's account and remove the password.This is worth a try.If it doesnt work the only option is to reinstall the windows(if u cant remember the pwd for your son's login)

A password is required to install anything on Linux, in order to prevent any malware or unauthorized users from doing harm. In order to install the program you wish, you will need to enter your password, which is the password you used to log in to Linux. I am assuming your account has sufficient privileges. If you set up an administrator, root, or su (superuser) password when you first booted up Linux, enter that password.

This sounds like a bios password. you should contact Acer and See what they can offer you may have to send in your unit and see if they can clear the bios password or what other options. Do you remember going into the bios at all ? did someone help you with your computer ? they may have set it for you and forgot to tell you. I assume this comes up when you power up the laptop? have you also tried just hitting enter and leaving it blank ?

just reset your bios if you don't remember any password from your Acer.
