How to change needle on record player

The "needle" should be connected to the record player in a simple fashion, just inserted into a slot. First see if you can remove the existing "cartridge" (the entire part that includesd the needle) and then look online for a replacement that looks the same, or search according to the turntable model number. There are many different types of cartridges, so you need to know what to buy. Here is a link to show man of the possibilities: https://www.google.com/search?q=turntable+cartridges&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=aoHfVPXhN8PZoATI3YIY&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAg&biw=1920&bih=952

Search google with the model number of your turntable, and then the word "cartridge"

Sears model 400.91741 turntable doesn't turn under power. It will rotate when i turn it by hand and the unit is getting power. To start spinning, the instructions say to move the needle arm to the right...

Turntables usually are spun by a 'rubber band' type of arrangement. Look under the platter for a broken belt that would attach to a drive motor and then around the platter. I would contact the manufacturer for the correct belt. You know records are making a huge comeback.

I have a JVC L-L1 turntable. The linear arm is quite sluggish and is actually making records skip. Any ideas other that replacing the motor?

I have this exact turntable. If the tone arm looks like it's not moving or not moving fast enough, it will make the record skip. It is NOT the turntable drive belt that is bad. It IS a 2nd belt that makes the tone arm assembly move. That belt is only about 1 3/4" diameter. I have yet to find one for mine. Turntable drive belts are readily available, but not this belt for some reason.

Belt on recordplayer (turntable)

Look at websites that sell Dj equipment.......search for places that sell technics turntables for DJs......and make sure they also have belt driven models like stanton turntables......if they do, then they might have the belt that you need. if they don't then they can probably order it for you or know where you can get the belt from!

if you wind up getting a new turntable, go with a direct drive model....they don;t have that problem as there are no belts!
