Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

We have a Kenmore Elite clothes washer model 110.2494 purchased in 2003. Every time my wife washes sheets (either 1 or two king size) they twist into a tight rope. Some research suggests that replacing the impeller with a modified one (PN: W10077050) will solvethe problem. Is that true? If so, is it somehting that a mechanically inclined guy can normally do? Where can I get replacement procedure instructions? Are there other likely solutions?

Start the washer. Once it begins agitating raise the lid and observe the tub.
The agitator should be going back and forth.
The tub should be stationary.
If he tub is moving also, you have a bad transmission.
You may have to manually close the lid switch to watch this process with the lid open.

thank you jumptrout51: I just ran a short test load and held the lid switch whil the lid wwas open so I could observe the agitator and tub motion. the agitator is alternating back and forth but the tub is still - so that does not seem to be the problem. any other suggestions? what do you know about replacing the wash plate with the new design (w10077050 kit part no.)? Kenmore elite error codes

There is a tech sheet inside the control panel o r in the owners manual that will give you the instructions on running the diagnostic program. Run the diagnostic program and it will tell you what the problem is and what tests are needed to accurately diagnose and fix the problem. This is unbalanced load code... many similar models were recalled by LG (LG manufactured this unit for Sears) due to a programming issue that interfered with normal operation... this may be the case for yours... Post your diagnostic results... if tech diagnostic sheet is not available then google it with your model number and download the instruction sheet or call lg and they will do a diagnostic test over the phone and or walk you th rough the process... its very simple. Take care

He5t tearing clothes

Are you sure that the clothes are not getting caught on exposed zips.

Why not load some things like towels sheets (without zips/buttons etc) in the washer and see if the issue repeats itself. You should also be able to see if there are any sharp edges or loose sharp items in the drum (mind your fingers)

Kenmore Elite HE4T standing water

I also have standing water after a wash cycle, but not immediately after. Given the history of very expensive repairs to this Kenmore HE4T washing machine, I suggest you do what I do, if the machine is still cleaning the clothes. Whatever cycle you use, try to be around when the machine finishes, so that you can turn off the water supply and remove the damp clothes to the dryer or clothes line. Turn on the water supply only when you want to use the machine. This works for me because I don't do many loads per week and my laundry area is right next to my kitchen. If it was in my basement, I'd have replaced it already with a top loading machine with mechanical not electronic controls.

My kenmore elite oasis keeps stopping on spin and flashing ul it is a top loader king size capacity

UL = uneven load.

Re-distribute clothes and re-try.

If still no-go... the load balance sensor is likely to blame.

This is a know issue with this machine. There is a a new impeller (the round plate in the middle) available that will resolve this issue. You should contact Sears and tell them you want the new impeller installed.

What is the capaity of 2005 Kenmore Elite Washer and Dryer, models 110?

Starting in early 2002, the capacity sizes were changed around a little bit. A normal sized washer now all have the same sized tubs (pretty much) in the 110 series (Whirlpool Manufactured) washers. The capacity is now rated somewhat by the agitator action the washer comes with. Depending on the type of agitator you have, will determine the capacity. King size capacity means you have a pretty good capacity (size wise) than others. You have normal capacity, large capacity, super capacity, king capacity, and I even think they have canyon (yes canyon) capacity. Capacity sizes dont really mean to much though. In order for you clothes to get clean, the must have room in the tub to move. The must be able to float up, then get pulled down by agitator action. That should determine the size of what goes in the washer. Always use same type clothing when doing laundry (i.e. towels with towels, sheets with sheets, etc, this will keep the load balanced better). Watch what you load, comforters are ok (per manufactures ok) but I do not tlike the idea unless its a front loader, and only by itself. Let me know if this helps you out any.
