My Eureka handheld Hot Shot, will heat up, but won't spray. I have put 1 c distilled white vinegar and 1 c water in and let it heat up. I have repeated this twice, but no luck. I have only used this steamer once, then it sat for about a year, and it doesn't work. HELP!

Unfornitually the metal that makes up the steam vessel oxidies when water is left in it, when it has not ben drained, which causes a white powder around the valve which is almost impossible to remove, almost. yes white vinager can remove it and will also cause more oxidizatinn if not rinced very throuley the valve has a thermoplastic part covering it if you deside to remove it it will usually break off making the unit unusable. The carosion around the valve is the problem that causes the valve to stick. if not very carfull you can cause this thing to blow the plug out of the top steam is very dangerous. dan

Why won't my bissell steampower spray water anymore?

Steam Irons and carpet machines should be filled only with distilled water. Repeated use of tap water can lead to mineral build up, clogging the tubes and vents. Using white vinegar instead of water can dissolve the minerals over time (fill and let sit) the best method is to disassemble the unit and clean the heating elements and all water baring parts.

Heats up but no steam

I took the head off of mine and saw that there was plenty of steam coming out and found that the head was clogged. I inserted a wire in the head part to try and dislodge the clog. I used 1/4 distilled water and 3/4 of distilled white vinegar and pumped it continuously until the steam came out. I then took the head off again and inserted a wire to clean it more and repeated the process and it works great now.

How do I clean my iron?

I am assuming that you have scale or lime build up on your iron. Make a solution of half white vinegar and half distilled water. Pour it in the water container on your iron. Turn your iron on its highest setting and set for steam. Wait about 15 minutes and turn off the iron. When water cools pour off the remaining water/vinegar solution. Fill the iron with distilled water and turn on. Let it heat and then cool then pour off that solution. Do this till the poured off water runs clear. If you have scale on the bottom of the iron you can clean that with an old toothbrush dipped into warm white vinegar. There may be easier ways to do this but this is eco friendly and it works the best of anything I have tried.

I have the Oreck Sanapathic DMS2000 Handheld Steam Vacuum, but no steam comes out when I push the button. I hear the motor, is there any buttons I am missing or any help on how to make it work, been...

ORECK DMS2000 No Steam
First, tested tank and filter flow together using suction via
plastic tubing. Worked freely Second, removed pump
and disconnected hoses and terminals [watch location,
three terminals on pump, two plugs]. Pump has a slug inside
and I could blow water either way. Sucked white vinegar
both ways until check action returned. Use distilled water
in future!

Steam doesn't come out anymore when I pull the trigger. I think the water in the tank is getting hot, but when I pull the trigger, only a little water comes out. No steam

Try putting some white vinegar in the tank to dissolve any hard water deposits. You should use only distilled water in this machine. Don't try to clean anything with the vinegar in it, but take it outside to run the vinegar through.

My shark steam mop heats up but won't steam. help

Problem: mineral dleposits. Just fixed mine.... DO THIS OUTDOORS. Add 1/2 c CLR to the tank, let sit for an hour, turn on, allow to heat and pump. May have to refill with CLR and repeat. Be persistent, and eventually you'll blow out a wad of dissovled minerals followed, happily, by billows of steam. Again, do this outdoors and keep the mop pointed away from people, plants and things. (I aimed mine into a cardboard box.) Follow up with a couple of tanks of water and pump until empty to clean out any residual CLR and loosened deposits. (I continued to get some black precipitate through the first water cleaning.) I will add that I began this process first with white vinegar, then with Lime Away..no luck put perhaps I was not sufficiently persistent. Or perhaps it was the sequence of attempts. (Also, do not take off the mop head...the part to which you attach the pads...it's tough to get off, does not allow access to parts that need cleaning (thought it would, not not so), and practically impossible to get back on.)
Alternatively, call Shark...they'll offer to repair for $18 plus $10+/- shipping, or may offer you a new one at "preferred customer" rate of $39.95 plus shipping. Good luck, and please remember to try the CLR outside.
