Question about InFocus LP640 Projector Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

Just replaced the bulb on my companies InFocus LP640. Went to power back up and get message that one or more fans are not working. Anything I can do, clean etc to fix myself? Or is this dead? If it has to be repaired is it usually cheaper to buy new unit or have the old unit repaired?

If the lamp exploded, there will be glass fragments jamming one of the fans.
Check the fan plug, the one near the lamp.

Put new bulb in it wont strike, put old bulb back in (worked before0 and it wont strike WTF

Make sure the lamp connector in the projector has not been pushed in as I have seen this happen on a couple of LP540 and LP640 projectors.
If the connector is pushed in the connector on the lamp will not make contact and strike the lamp.

Just replaced the bulb and tried to start. No

make sure the lamp door is pushing the safety switch all the way in. or you can push it in with a screwdriver and power on the projector. if it works then your lamp door is heat damaged and should be replaced. if not then your power supply is bad.

Hi,
After storage for a while one of the fans may be stuck causing the over heat safety circuit to shut down the projector. Use a bright flashlight & look in vented areas for fans & use a popsicle stick, thin plastic straw or suitable while unplugged (do not use anything metal) & give all the fans you see a little push to turn them around some. Also remove the lamp cover & remove the lamp & push the cooling fan inside the lamp compartment to loosen it up. Put the lamp back in & replace the cover & then plug it back in, wait 5 minutes then try starting it up again.
Just one of many things that can be wrong but worth a try. Good Luck,
Jim

yes. the lamps are good for 1500-2000 hours. with the projector on, go into the menu and find out how many lamp hours have accumulated.

The fan is probably on it's way out and cannot produce enough air flow to cool the lamp. Replace the fan with the same ratings as the original and it should work fine. The only other thing would be a problem with the power supply not supplying enough power to the fan, but, a bad fan is more likely.

LP540 INFOCUS

good luck. not even the infocus authorized service centers get those. besides, they were made by another company that does not make power supplies antmore. and infocus doesn't have any new ones in stock. if you're getting no power at all, replace the mosfets. it works half of the time.

Error "Fan Stopped"

yes. it needs the third wire to sense the fan speed. without it, the projector assumes that the fan is not running.
