I would check to see where the air inlet vent is, as sometimes that is why your leg is getting very hot.
There are numerous laptop guards for sale on ebay. That will keep the heat off your leg and encourage a better air flow.

check your spark plug and see what color it is, it sounds like you might be running really lean and that will cause the bike to run hot. if the plug is white or lighter in color thats most likely what is happing.

How to Prevent Laptop Overheating

There are some laptops that get hotter than other laptops. Laptops get hot due to many factors such as capacity of the processor, cooling fans, ventilation, extra items such as modem, video cards. They all produce heat due to which laptop gets hot.

You'll find many examples on the Internet for the laptops which get hot. There are particular laptop models which produce excessive heat. For example, IMB T60,Apple Mac Book Aeros, Compaq 610, Dell D400 etc.

But you don't need to worry now because there are certain methods by which you can stop overheating of your laptop. These methods are discussed below.

Place your laptop on a cool flat surface while working. It will allow the air to enter your laptop. Some laptops have cooling fan underneath and blocking this will make your laptop hot quickly.

Buy a laptop stand from a laptop seller. It lifts your laptop few inches from surface of the table making a reasonable space for air to enter your laptop freely.

Dust your laptop regularly; it will keep your laptop's fan functioning properly for a long period. The fan needs to do an extra work when there is dust inside the laptop. If you dust regularly, the fan will not experience any difficulty.

Shut down your laptop before putting it in the bag. The atmosphere inside the bag may be too hot for your laptop, and it can damage your laptop.

When the battery is full, unplug the charger. People make a common mistake leaving the laptop plugged in. Due to the constant supply of electricity to the laptop will heat its battery as a result it will overheat your laptop.

You can find certain kinds of items in many electronic stores for keeping your laptop cool. Cooling pad is a most common equipment to keep your laptop cool that sits beneath your laptop and is powered on with the help of USB port. It increases the airflow inside the laptop. So, cooling pad is the best you can take to keep your laptop cool and maximize its performance.

Give your laptop a little break if it is getting hot. It can shut down itself to protect any kind of damage due to overheating. This is an indication that your laptop needs a little break.

Do not expose your laptop to the sunlight for a long span of time.

Hi,

I suggest try to call the manufacturer because if happens that its causing plastic burnt or dent due to overheating that means the hardware of the machine is failing, also the automatic shutdown is caused by overheating. If your going to call the manufacturer they have special support for those kind of issue.

My Eee netbook just shuts off, the fan keeps running untill i get the black screen which can mean its overheating because the fan is constantly running. Please help me fix this problem ive spent way too...

This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced.

If none of this solves the problem, or is not the case, then you might have a bad motherboard.

Acer Extensa 4220 Overheating

if you burn a lot of cd or DVD this to will cause it to over heat, it should have feet on the back of the laptop and raise the rear ones to give it more air circulation also buy a laptop table fan that will plug into a USB port to keep the fan cool, with today’s processors and thin notebooks it's hard to keep them cool when doing hard work on them

Laptops to get hot, but not so they actually burn your fingers.
You say the fan is working and clean, ok , but when it kicks in does it stay on an excessive amount
of time especially under heavy cpu usage?
My first thought is you need the heatsink and arctic silver checked out on cpu, i could be wrong but it
sounds like your getting to the stage of overheating problems, and with prolonged use the laptop
will eventually at around 90C start cutting out.

Compaq presario v2000 overheating issues...

Yes, this is a fairly common problem with the v200o, caused by a lack of good fan airflow. Your best bet in using it would be to get a laptop pad. This will not only keep your laptop cooler, it will prevent your legs from blocking the fans when it is on your lap.

Good luck!
