You could provide some more data please; is it connected via usb, e-sata, firewire? passport definition of the drive?
an io error could rise cause of divers reasons. have u dropped the drive? try to check the drive through your systems drive-check-tool, otherwise go to the hdd homepage like http://www.wdc.com/en/ and download the tools from the support part. install it and check the disk.
if nothing helps send it for repair.

good luck

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

How to fix My Passport Hard Disk 1 TB which is not working and showing error 0x8007041D I have my essential data in this device. How can I retrive the data from this device.

Hi there,
The mentioned error may be related to your anti virus software. Check the device on another PC to confirm where the issue comes from. If you have this option, disable or uninstall your current anti virus software and reinstall My Passport's drivers from Device Manager. Anyways, this error is OS related and your HDD should be fine.

All I really want to do is delete what is on my terabyte.

The quickest to delete the data off the Passport hard drive is to format the passport hard drive.
Connect the passport drive to the USB port on your computer, click My Computer, right click on the Passport hard drive then click on Format.

CRC errors are when the data is corrupted. You should run some tests on the hard drive.

Western digital passport i/o device error

90% of the time this is a power problem. The USB port on the computer can not supply enough watts. Use an external USB hub that has a 5V power supply.
