Question about Comfort-Aire EKTH15-150J Air Conditioner
Your problem sounds more like a reversing valve issue.
The reversing valve will tend to stick and not close completely causing cool air instead of warm.
Check the low voltage wires to the control board(usually orange) and the 24 volt signal at the reversing valve.
The r/v coil could also be intermittent.
When you switch the system to cool, then back to heat, the reversing valve is activating. That leads me to believe it is sticking.
Also check the defrost time on the board.
They are usually changeable from 30/60/90 minutes.
If not already set for 90,change it to 90 minutes.
Last but not least, observe the outdoor unit when it does this cool air thing.
If the unit has an ice buildup and is not defrosting correctly, that can be a sign of a bad defrost thermostat or a bad control board.
When the unit correctly goes into defrost mode it should also turn on inside heat strips to compensate for the cool air entering the ducts.
