Receiving Both Documents and Telephone Calls Automatically: Fax/Tel Mode
If you set Fax/Tel mode, you can control precisely how the fax handles incoming calls by
adjusting the following settings:
??? Adjust the time the fax takes to check whether a call is from a fax machine or a telephone
(<RING START TIME> setting).
??? Adjust the length of time the fax rings when the call is a voice call (<TEL RING TIME>
setting).
??? Set whether the fax switches to receive mode after the ring time set in <TEL RING TIME> has
elapsed (<DEFAULT ACTION> setting).
1 Press [Menu].
2 Use [{] or [}] to select <DATA REGSTRATION>, then press [Start/Copy]. The
LCD displays <USER SETTINGS>.
3 Use [{] or [}] to select <RX SETTINGS>, then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD
displays <ECM RX>.
4 Use [{] or [}] to select <FAX/TEL AUTO SW>, then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD
displays <RING START TIME>.
5 Press [Start/Copy].
6 Use the numeric buttons, or [{] or [}] to enter the time the fax waits before ringing
when it receives a call, then press [Start/Copy] twice.
7 Use the numeric buttons, or [{] or [}] to enter the time the fax rings while waiting
for someone to pick up the Handset, then press [Start/Copy] twice. The LCD
displays <RECEIVE>.
Note
??? If paper jams, see "Troubleshooting" on page 53.
??? If the Ink Lamp lights up faxes will be received to memory.
8SEC.
22SEC.
Use [{] or [}] to select <RECEIVE> or <DISCONNECT>, then press [Start/Copy].
This setting tells the fax what to do if the Handset is not picked up within the specified ring
time set in step 6.
9 Press [Stop].
Setting ends and the fax returns to standby mode.
The user of the remote machine pressed the Stop key, causing the session to be prematurely terminated.
The remote fax machine determined that there was a feature incompatibility between the two machines and terminated the session. For example, the local machine wanted to initiate polling, but the remote machine did not support this mode of operation.
Solutions
Make sure that the remote machine can accept and use polling.
Select a slower reception speed.
Error 223: Definition
The local machine was unable to receive an entire page even after multiple attempts to receive the parts of the page that contain errors. This situation is usually due to extremely poor line conditions.
Solutions
Try to receive the fax at a different time when telephone line conditions have improved
According to the message you received on the screen there's might be something wrong with your RAM module(s). Take a look inside and see if everything's alright with RAM. Replace it to another slot if there are empty.
Download and use a program like MemTest to see if RAM is properly working.
If you have another computer which is compatible with your RAM, try it inserting then in to PC and see if everyhting's alright.
If nothing helps, then purchase a new RAM module
The error 244 results from a fax machine communicating and trying to 'Poll" your fax. (receive information you have loaded into the fax memory for all to receive) The error comes in when your fax has no information or is not set up to be polled.
Look in your menu for the "ECM" setting on the printer menu. If this error is getting persistent change the ECM setting to the opposite of what it is set now. More than likely your fax will say ECM=On, change to off.
If you have problems locating where the ECM section is, print a "settings report" or "printer menu".
Did you mean you wanted to unload the unfinished film?
What you did then? be more clear and specific about the procedures before I can give you suggestions.
