Question about Dell E177FP LCD Monitor
We have a Dell Monitor on our computer. It is 2 years old. It works great, computer works great, etc... But for the last few weeks, we have had a problem with the monitor not wanting to come back on after the computer is shut down. If we restart the computer the normal way, after the prompt, the monitor comes back on. But if my son shuts the computer off by pushing the power button (and there is no way to avoid this; he is autistic,)
the monitor stays black. There is no green light, no amber light. Just black. But we can fix it really easy. All we have to do is unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and plug it right back in (no waiting) and the green light pops right back on and the monitor runs great. Until he powers it off again. This is getting old. Any idea what the problem could be?
Do you have a second monitor or can you borrow one to check if the fault lies with the monitor or the PC?
If the monitor is at fault then there is not much you can do yourself. I suggest you contact Dell and get them to replace it under warranty. Most LCD monitors have a 3 year warrantly, at least they do in the UK.
