Trying to startup SalonBiz Light program - keep getting message, "Maintenance operation being performed on database. This application will now quit. Try to restart your application in a few minutes". This doesn't change. No maintenance is running - it appears to be stuck. Any advice would be appreciated.

Your program file is corrupted and will have to be re-installed, first find where your database files are. Default will be C:\Program Files\SalonBiz Light\Data\sb.mdb and copy and save off your computer, for extra safety you can also save the entire Data file. Go to Add or Remove Programs and delete SalonBiz Light, then re-install SalonBiz Light and replace the default sb.mdb file with the one you saved, restart program and you are back in business.

K Soze is incorrect in this instance.

The error message you are receiving is caused by a SalonBiz maintenance utility called AccessDBCompactor that typically runs at night. If for one reason or another the process is interrupted, you may encounter that challenge.

Open C:\Program Files\SalonBiz Light\Data\dbcompactor.ini and set LogStationsOff=0
You can also prevent that utility from running again by deleting the scheduled task which is located in Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > (Task Scheduler or Scheduled Tasks)

Even though it is a free version of our product that does not come with free tech support over the phone, you can get assistance via if you have any other questions. Also, if you are completely unable to function for any SalonBiz related reason, please call us at 1-888-809-2802. We'll be happy to get you up and running as quickly as possible regardless of whether or not you are a paying customer.

Disable Startup programs to increase system speed

<p>One of the great things about our operating systems today is the automated processes that take place in the background. These processes make many programs run faster and make them easier to use. However, this feature can also use resources on programs that you may never use. Some programs use auto updates or even schedulers to regularly check for updates, is this necessary? Not really. I often suggest to people to remove unwanted or unused processes from startup. This can be more difficult than it sounds as there are often many items in the startup that are unknown to most users. I now have a solution to this problem. You can go to <a href=""></a> this is the largest and most in-depth list of startup items I have ever seen. At first the list will seem very intimidating it is very large. However, once you get started it goes quickly. You can search alphabetically on the site so don't panic. If you run across an entry that is not listed try google and do a search for it. Follow the instructions below to view and disable startup processes. Although it can be time consuming I suggest you check every one of your startup entries and verify if they are in fact necessary. <span>The speed increase is worth the time spent and you may even find hidden <a href="">malware or viruses </a>you didn't know were there.</span><br /> <p>Click-Start<br /> <p>In run line or search box (depending on OS) type "msconfig" hit enter.<br /> <p>Microsoft's System Configuration Utility should open.<br /> <p>Select Startup tab<br /> <p>Here you will be able to view and disable\enable startup items. After verifying all startup items you will need to reboot for the changes to take affect. When windows reloads you will get a message that will tell you the startup configuration has been changed and how to change it back. Select the check box in lower left corner "Do not show this message again" to make this go away. If at anytime after you have made changes you have problems with an application simply go back to "Msconfig" and enable the applications startup process. Following these instructions could significantly speed up your system.<br />

My integral webcam for Lenovo laptop is not working. It gives a message " To turn off other programs in the background keeping the camera busy "

Usually you have a Webcam Software provided by HP, perhaps CyberLink, it will start at windows startup. I suggest using freeware CCLEANER: This freeware program has many useful tools, a cleaner, registry, to clean jnuk and free up HDD space. In the TOOLS section, select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs/processes, including webcam/cyberlink. You can also use Task Manager or Services. You may find it easier to use CCLEARNER.

The message : 'the shortcut that "jueqiexx.exe" refers to cannot be located' keeps on popping up and I do not know how to deal with it.

That program is probably in your startup folder. Go to the start menu --> All programs --> Startup (its a folder) --> then delete the shortcut

If that does not work then you can use the utility CCleaner to get rid of the startup programs that you don't want

Using a textbox and a command button the user will type a specific data to search in the database then the command button will perform the action and the information about the specific data will...

Are you asking how to use the "search" function in windows or are you asking how to program a application to do this?

To use the search function in windows you need to go to Start and then click on search.

If you want to program an application to do this, you will need to provide more information as what type of programming language you are using and what database you are using on your backend.

You can find reference books depending on the programming language and you can even do a google search and find examples for what you are trying to do.

I hope this helps and if so thumbs up my solution!

At times, you may view that your MS Visual FoxPro 9.0 database is behaving abnormally. Some of the abnormal symptoms could be an error message while opening any database table, invalid characters in place of pre-defined values, and and more. The main reason for abnormal behavior of the database is its corruption due some logical crash. Few common reasons for corruption of MS Visual FoxPro 9.0 database are abnormal termination, faulty network devices, simultaneous modifications, conflicting third-party software, and incompatible service packs.
To overcome such database corruption scenarios, the user can use an up-to-date backup and perform restoration. However, restoration fails in cases where the user either forgets to create a database or the database backup itself gets damaged. In such cases, the database users can use a third-party DBF File Repair application to repair his/her corrupted database.
To illustrate the above case, consider a real-time scenario wherein you execute a query to modify your MS Visual FoxPro 9.0 database. While the query was performing the modification, the system shutdown due to power failure. However, the next time you tried to mount the database, you encountered an error message that did not allow you to access the database records. Moreover, the same error message appears every time you try to access the database.
The root cause for the error message is MS Visual FoxPro 9.0 database corruption due to improper system shutdown.
The database corruption error message can be surmounted by following the below steps:
Use a complete database backup and perform restoration. However, in case of database backup unavailability, you will need to search for a commercial DBF File Repair utility.
A third-party DBF Repair application uses effective repair techniques to repair logically damaged MS Visual FoxPro 9.0 database and restore it at a new and safe location. The original database during the repair process remains intact. The tool is easy-to-understand and allows even a non-technical person to perform repair.
DBF Recovery Software is a comprehensive solution to repair databases created in MS Visual FoxPro 9.0, MS Visual FoxPro 8.0, and MS Visual FoxPro 7.0. The tool also repairs databases built in dBase III, dBase IV, and dBase V. Supported by Windows 7, Vista, 2003, XP, and 2000, the DBF Repair tool creates a new repaired file that can be attached to existing database.
Tanvi Sharma is a self employed Internet entrepreneur and product reviewer. This DBF Repair utility is extremely useful when the dBase and Foxpro database gets corrupted due to internal program errors, hardware malfunctioning, accidental deletion of data and more. This DBF Repair software repairs all types of database components including table name, column name, column data type, indexes and primary keys.
