Question about iRiver iFP-790 MP3 Player
The MODE/REC buton on my iRiver IFP-790 digital audio player stopped working. This is the button that is used recording from a line input, and for selecting functions and playback modes. I have had the player for a little over a year, and it has worked fine until now. I tried upgrading the firmware on the iRiver website, but this did not help. Nothing happens any more when I press the MODE/REC button. When I contacted iRiver, the repair cost they quoted me would be more than I paid for the player. Is there any less expensive way for me to get the button to work again?
I had the same problem. I got some electronic contact cleaner at Frys Electronics and sprayed a bit around the button, so that a little got inside. The button started working again instantly. If yu don't have contact cleaner you could first try a drop of denatured alcohol... I don't think it's as likely to work, but I also don't think it will hurt anything.
