Put in new roll of paper, guided through the two pieces of metal, where paper is cut (cutter does work) but no printing happens. I had a document come in, it jammed, I took out roll, put in new one and now document in memory comes out blank. What am I doing wrong?

I had read that on google and did it before asking...I am more concerned about how the paper is fed into the machine... thanks, Annette

Daniel, it was receiving and printed two pages, then the paper jammed so I don't think it's the thermistor...

  • annettedougl Mar 31, 2011

No, I think it's the way the paper is fed through. Some sensor must not be seeing it to turn on the thermo thingy. Can you please show me how the paper should go in? I looked at the user guide, and it says to feed the paper under the bar. That is what I did. But there are two slim pieces of metal, parallel to each other and a 32nd of an inch apart. I fed it through the two pieces...remember, it printed two pages before it jammed.

I checked the diagram again, and I do have the paper in correctly so that it sits with the sheet at the front of the roll, not the back. I pull it up and through the cutter blades. There is way too much resistance on the rubber rollers to put it just over them and under the blades. I wish I could photograph it and show it to you. Thanks for responding. Annette

Problem solved! Wrong brand of paper for that machine!! It didn't like that thermal paper. I had four other rolls of the original paper behind the new box, and when I put in the "old" roll type, it worked right away. Please keep that in mind for ANY thermal transfer fax machine!!

  • annettedougl Apr 01, 2011

Unfortunately, it was my husband who came to the conclusion that the paper brand might not work with this machine. He was right, it works now, and I am at peace with technology, once again! Thanks to those who posted. Annette

Hi, reset the fax machine and remove the roller and fix it back and it will be fine.
Sometimes it does not happen immediately,You might need to try more than ones.

Good luck.

I have a Panasonic KX-F580 fax machine which uses a roll of thermally sensitive paper. I suspect you have a similar fax machine and that you have put the new roll of paper in the wrong way such that the paper is being fed through the cutters upside down and so that the thermally sensitive side of the paper is not facing the thermal print head. To check this out, I opened my fax machine, removed the paper roll, turned it around (180 degrees), fed the end through the cutters, closed the cover and pressed help which prints the help pages. I could hear printing but when the cutters cut the paper, the resulting page was entirely blank. I re-opened the cover, removed the paper roll, turned it around (180 degrees), fed the end through the cutters, closed the cover and pressed help. This time after hearing the printing and the cutter cut the paper, the resulting page had the help page printed on it. On my KX-F580, the correct way to feed the paper roll is from the bottom of the roll where it sits. It then comes up over the Silver Plate and under the rubber roller which feeds it. There is a diagram underneath the cover at the back which shows how the paper roll should be fed but it really isn't that clear whether the paper is coming up from underneath the roll which is the correct way or going over the roll which is incorrect.

After seeing you latest comment, I tried feeding the paper on my fax differently. If the paper is fed the wrong way, an out of paper sensor will not be pressed by the paper which results in an "out of paper" message. Anyways, on my fax the printing coming out is underneath the sheet - not on the top. You can check if the paper is not upside-down by simply taking the paper coming out from the back and seeing if running your finger nail across the underside causes a mark. If it doesn't leave a mark and running your finger nail across the topside does, then the paper is quite likely feeding through upside-down.

Paper cutter

You should try replacing the cutter assembly with a new one. They are rather inexpensive ($50) to purchase and easy to install.

The only other thing I can think would cause your problem is if something is stuck in the groove by the cutter guide that would cause it to disengage while cutting.

Hi, I have a brand new SX4 with a rotary cutter. I am printing 2 types of tickets, one with a black mark and one with a notch cut out of the side (gap). The problem I am having is that when printing the...

Your problem is related to the size of your Tags.
When the label is fed to be cut, the notch is placed on the sensor. Since there is no paper the value recorded says no paper. Try to recalibrate the sensors or stick a piece of liner on the sensor.

Printer is saying paper jam and I have cleared out all paper and clippings that were stuck how can I get it to stop saying paper jam?

Happend twice to me. What sometimes happens is that the paper roll was not changed at the time the ink was. Therefore the paper roll was allowed to remain in the printer until the very last sheet. On the last sheet there is a sticker that says paper out. (stupid idea) This sticker makes the last sheet of paper too thick to fit through the last paper guide / feed. Because of this, the ink film breaks and that specific error message is displayed until that last piece of 4x6 is pulled from the inside top paper feed. Clear that out, and all is good.. Change the paper every time u change the ink. Even if its not finished. They give you extra. And clear out all the paper from the cutter traay before you move the printer.
You must open up the front where the roll goes. Lay the printer back, and look up top where the paper ejects. you should see some of the paper in the feed. Pull that out with a tweezers.

Beware. I sent my printer to Sony and they tried to get me for a new cutter and thermal head. Close to $500. I then realized the problem because it happened on another unit I own. I told them to ship it back unrepaired and I fixed it myself.
Hope this helps

Royal 85x crosscut shredder stopped working

Some shredders aren't designed to shred anything more than paper. Credit cards, staples, paper clips and the like could have jammed it up. Try running the shredder in reverse and oiling the blades. More help with paper shredder oil here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil

If you can't get the paper shredder up and running, it looks like you might have to pick up a new paper shredder. Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders

In the paper and quality options I have only sheet or CD/DVD to select from. Roll option is not showing

Hi,

The Roll Paper button cuts, feeds and returns paper to the printing position when the automatic cutter is used. When held down for three seconds, it reverses the roll paper out of the printer. The cutter can make either one cut precisely between images, two cuts with a margin between images or no cuts. The driver lets you select which method you prefer. The Utility program has an alignment option for the cutter that you should use whenever you reinstall the cutter.
Please let me know if this does not help else please accept it.

The thermal transfer paper tore during process how do I fix it? I removed the cartridge but now the fax paper just sit in tray while the rollers rolls.

Cartridge? There is no print cartridge in a thermal fax. Maybe you removed the thermal print head. Put it back! You simply need to "thread" the fax paper back through the slot that leads to the cutter mechanism. When you close the lid the rollers will pick up the paper and cut off a fresh strip. Locate the long slot for the paper.

Husqvarna Sapphire - thread cutter not working

Does the metal arm come out to grab the threads to cut it? Is there a blade in the metal arm that cuts the tread? I think a standard utility knife cutter blade is the same size (just like the one that cuts the bobbin thread when you put in a new bobbin). What happens when you activate the cutter is the arm comes out, grabs the threads, brings them to the blade which cuts the threads, the velcro by the cutter holds the bobbin thread in place for the next stitch. Otherwise the thread may end up on top and the top thread would not be able to pick it up for the next stitch.

Good luck.

Sharp UX-184 Paper Feed

On inside of machine it states how to:
1. Place new paper roll on the left hub while pushing it in, lowering the roll into the compartment making sure it is inserted onto the right hub.
2. Pass the leading edge of the paper through the paper cutter guide and the cutter.
3. Remove any slack in the paper.
4. Close the cover. The paper will feed out automatically.

The paper rolls over top front to back.

Using the cutter

you want to print borderless on a cutsheet media? you just have to select and 'cheat' the printer in the printer properties, in there choose roll on the paper source option then enable the cutter and choose double cut on printer's set-up menu on the panel, then it'll cut before and after the printing to make it borderless from top to bottom and from edge to edge. just be sure that the cutsheet media is long enough so that the printer can still hold the media as it finishes the printing or else it'll be a waste, cause the printer wont finish the image. and take note that the epson sp9600 has a limitation in printing borderless, it'll only print borderless on (12", 17", 24", 36:, and 44") media size only i think there's also 14". trust me it'll work, ive done it! :P
