Follow this procedure to enable your wireless security.

On a PC that is connected via an ethernet cable (not wireless), open Internet Explorer and type the following address in the address bar:

192.168.1.1

Press Enter

You'll be presented with a log-in screen

Leave the User Name blank and enter admin in the password field. (Unless you've previously changed the password, in which case you would enter that password).

You will be taken to the internal website of the router where you can configure all of the router's settings.

Click on the Security tab at the top of the page.

Under that tab, click on Wireless

Here is where you set up your wireless security.

I recommend you choose the WEP under security mode.

Choose 128 bit under WEP Encryption

Enter a passphrase and click on the Generate button

Print out or write down the 1st key that is generated as you'll need this key to authorize all wireless devices.

Click on save settings at the bottom of the page and your router will reboot and your wireless security is set up.

Now, when ever you try to use the wireless on your computer for the first time, you'll be presented with a window to enter the passkey code which is what you just wrote down. Follow the prompts and your wireless security will be established.

Where is the administration located?

You need to encrypt your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from Belkin to your laptop/computer's LAN port, open a browser on your laptop/computer and enter the Belkin's configuration URL. http://192.168.2.1
The default PW = blank (just press Enter) You can now change the default admin password.
You can now configure the wireless settings to protect your wireless network and Internet from unauthorized access. Now configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings. To secure your wireless network from unauthorized access, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Some one hacking in to my computer and taking files

Hi pressonbradl,
For right now I would disconnect your router so that no one else can steal from you.
It is very important that you setup a password access to your router.
You can secure your router by going into your internet browser and typing in 192.168.1.1. This will bring you to your router configuration page. Once here, find the section in the left column "Wireless Settings." Choose a "Security Option" (i.e., WEP) and create your own Passphrase.
This will simply allow you to create a custom password so that anyone seeking to access your internet will have to know this password.
Let me know if I can help further.

I have lost my disk and need to program a password, due to nieghbours using my wireless. How do I do this

Hi evan,

Basically you don't need a CD if you want to change the password or put a password on the network all you need to do is to access the Wireless Settings Page of the Router and put or change the Network Key. To access your router you need a working computer connected to the router then open a Browser then type 192.168.0.1. the Username is admin and the password is blank. Go the the Wireless Settings Page and under Wireless Security Mode you can change the Security Mode to either WEP, WPA or WPA2 then input your desired password.

Rate me if this helps so i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.
