Optiplex 960 number 3 blinking

The #3 light is an indication of a processor problem. You may have a bad cooling fan, or a poor heatsink connection, or just a failing processor. The fact that it resets makes me think more along the lines of a fan issue. Here is a list of the codes and what they mean:

I have a viewsonic vg730m-3 that will power up,but it has a black screen with a blinking power light

The blinking light could be a number of things. Is there a pattern to it? Does the computer make a beeping sound? It sounds like a definite hardware failure, and the pattern will tell you what it is. Without the pattern, I couldn't tell you the exact problem.

Cant turn my computer on and there is a yellow blinking light

How many blinks? Count and notice the patterns of the blinks (3 long blinks or 1 long blink followed by two short blinks).

Remove the Power Cord, Open the Case and remove one of thememory chips. Set the chip aside then try rebooting the computer. If it boots, then you know the memory chip you set aside is bad so mark an x onit with an ink pen. If it fails to boot then move the chip to the nextmemory slot and try rebooting. If it fails take the chip out and set itaside, then put the other chip in and try booting it in both slots. If itboots, just to verify that the chip set aside is bad, mark an x on it and putit into the open memory chip slot and try booting. If all the above fails, you problem could be your Video Card or a motherboard issue.

I have a hp dv7 laptop. The screen will not light up. The Numbers Lock and the CAPS lights blink indicating the graphics controller is nonfunctional. How do I fix the computer for less than $200.

I just repaired the same laptop & problem. I was not the graphics controller. It was bad RAM. If there are 2 DIMMs installed, try one at a time. Most likely one went bad, you can leave the bad one out and fix it for free, or you can replace it, although I'd replace both with a matching pair if possible... you still should be able to fix it for <$200 even if you gave it 4GB of RAM!!!

My ambinent light is blinking on my hp touchsmart. the button on the left on the computer turns the light on and off and has three settings. currently, it blinks through all three settings then turns off...

sounds like either the switch controlling the light is not working or the or the abient light is burnt out causing a short. If under warranty Have this check out by an Hp Tech.

Monitor gets a square marked loicked in the middle of the screen. modem blinks on/off. help!

To change your screen saver, right click on the clear area of your desktop and and click on properties. Then, at the top info bar, click on the screen saver button and select a screen saver from the list that you want.
For the blinking light on your modem, it is supposed to blink, and if you want to, you could move it a certain way where you won't see it blinking.

My heat is turning on but the fan isnt working. my honeywell thermostat is showing a flame and a blinking battery, and i know nothing about this thermostat, we just moved in . Can u help?

This is not a PC problem
Symptom
Heating comes on, but sometimes it
gets too hot, sometimes too cold.
Neutral not connected
Cure
Check wiring in room thermostat. Look for a
connection to the Neutral terminal (N 2 on
the Honeywell T6060, T6160, and T6360).
Make sure that it is connected (check
continuity).
If there is no neutral available, replace with a
two-wire thermostat, e.g., CT200, CM61 or
CM67. These will also offer extra energy
savings, (Without a neutral connection, the anticipator within the room thermostat does not work,
so the temperature control reduces from ± ½ºC to ±3ºC. People can feel a six degree
temperature swing. Then, if they try to adjust the room thermostat to overcome the
problem, the temperature swings become even worse.)
