Programming Groups for the Samsung LCD 12B

Hi,
I am having a hard time figuring out how to program a group extension with about 5 or so people included in this group. The manual I have is from 1996 and I don't see anything in there as far as setting up group extensions. Any info?

Thanks!
Lauri

    If you can tell me which phone system, not phone type, you have I can help. The system type should be labeled back at the phons closet, something like Prostar 408, 612, 816 or iDCS 100. Let me know so I can give you the correct MMC to program.

    You can program from any display phone, access programming by pressing TRANSFER, dial 8 0 0 , defalt password is 4 3 2 1, display shows DISABLE, enter 1, display changes to ENABLE, press SPKR. You are now in programming mode so CAUTION must be used to make sure you press the right buttons. Dial 6 0 1, display shows GROUP 501 in brackets, dial the group number you wish to assign, say 505, display changes to GROUP 505 in brackets, press the left softkey under the display, the cursor moves down and is under TYPE, press the VOL UP button until MEMBERS shows on display, move cursor to right by pressing the right softkey under the display, dial extension to be added to group, after all have been added press TRANSFER to save.

Right now, when the phone rings - i have to press the line that is ringing. how can i just pick up the phone when it rings?

Hi, you need to put that extension into the ring group / groups. to do this, with the handset down dial;
TRANSFER 200
Password 1234
1 to enable
SPEAKER key
601.
press the volume key to get to the group(s) you want to be added to, this is the number in the brackets. once you have that press the 3rd soft key under the phone screen, use the volume key again to find 'members' then use your volume key when you get an empty slot - reads NONE, type in your extension number, press TRANSFER to store and exit programming. the video off http://www.abbeytelecom.com will help explain,

I am trying to set up speed dials on a samsung dcs-12b but keep getting a message saying no speed block and can't get any further

To assign a speed dial block you have to be in customer programming and go to MMC 606, once in type in either system-wide or individual extension number, please be aware that extensions can only have 5 blocks of 10 (50) speed dials, whereas the system can have 200+ depending on the size of the phone system. just to confirm 1=10. I have posted you a video explaining how to program the speed dial which is available to view on YouTube along with many others relating to the Samsung phone system. Alternatively you could visit www.abbeytelecom.com.

Hi, rather than try to send you written instructions you need to watch this video, then go to http://www.abbeytelecom.com and search 'programming the soft-keys ( they need to be an SPD)' then search 'how to add members to a group' and add the extension back into the operator group. hope this helps!

I have a network of samsungiDCS 28D phones. The phone in my office does not ring or show caller id. I want it to ring and show caller ID, how do I program it?

Hi you need to add your extension to the group that your phone rings in to. usually this is gruop 500. you can check this in MMC 714 in customer programming. I have attached a video showing how to add members to groups, there are 60+ relating to the Samsung iDCS range at www.abbeytelecom.com

Need to assign 5 extensions to a group and auto forward incoming calls to all of them

Which system? Ring groups are set up with 500-529 access codes, notably 529 is the one for voice mail. Look in your installers guide for MMC that deals with HUNT groups and assign the extension to a new group.

If you need a manual, post back with your system model.

Ring to other phones other than the switch board

When the system was installed, if you or your installer programmed it properly you set up ICD groups. Each extension that you want to ring goes into the members of the group and you can specify how the phones ring. It will also blink the buttons on incoming calls and you can pick up the call from anywhere by just pressing the button.

The programming manual is pretty specific on how to set ICD groups up. Your 5 fing delay is fairly long, so other factors need to be considered regarding intercept and No Answer call forwarding.

It's beyond the scope of a free forum to give specific programming help.

Trying to make every phone ring when the main phone rings

Well that is better than most people in finding the arrows...

Ok, first you need to know the extensions that you want to program to ring, and the lines, record these numbers... if you do not know the extension numbers and actual line numbers; going to each set, and doing a FEATURE * 0 and the Intercom and line buttons this will tell you the extension number and line number (this also tells you what is on every button).

Then goto your set and put in:
-> FEATURE 2 6 6 3 4 4
-> Password: 2 6 6 3 4 4

Now you will have to look at your LCD for 3 arrows
<- Heading....Enter->
<- Back .......Next->

You will not see these words in the LCD display, you just have to look for the arrows that correspond.

-> you will now see “TERMINALS&SETS” and press Enter (the top right arrow key)

-> now put in the extn that you want to change (Eg. 227).
-> you should now see the extension number “227: NAME”

-> press Enter (the top right arrow key) again
-> you will now see “LINE ACCESS

-> press ENTER
-> you will now see “LINE ASSIGNMENT

-> and Enter
-> now you can type in the lines that you want to ring on this extension (Eg. 025 for line 5)

-> hit CHANGE till it says "APPR&RING" (Appear and ring means that the line will have a button on the set)
-> hit NEXT to save changes
-> press FIND to look for more lines and change the appropriate lines to appear and ring
-> then the RLS button (the little orange button) to exit programming.

After this programming is done, dial Feature * 0 and look for these new lines.

Good luck.
