Why does my USB connection cable not fit into camera?

Never use force when connecting electronic apparatus. So don't try to force it in. Please try to lend a mini USB cable from someone, and look if that goes in without problem. As soon as that cable does not go in, look into the connector on the camera, if anything (pice of paper, dust) is in the connector. Then compare the connector on the camera and on the cable see if thee is a dent in one of them. Use a magnifying glass, because everything is very small.

I can't seem to send images from my camera via cable or infrared

Simply get a cable that fits. The camera cable should be a standard USB A for the Computer- assuming the computer has USB or is it Sony and fitted with Fire-wire in which you will need an adaptor Fire-wire to USB

Olympus D535 cord won't go in computer.

YOu have 2 options to transfer images to your computer. One is the USB cable that should be supplied with the camera. There is an up and a down and the cable connector could be bent making it not fit. The second way is a card reader, the card reader also uses USB im not really sure your problem if the ports are just hidden or you just dont haev USB ports at all. Some dell systems have a little door on the front of the tower box (this sits on the floor) usualy they are in the front, a little door flips up and exposes the ports. USB is a common plug type and i think any computer made after 1998 should have a USB port.

General USB Troubleshooting

While USB connections are significantly faster and easier to set up than older serial or SCSI connections they are not foolproof. Here are some tips: Be sure to connect the cable properly One side of the cable is "keyed" so it will only fit properly one way. Do not force it in if it does not smoothly connect. Notice how the USB plug is "keyed" and will only fit properly in one direction. The USB connector on the back of the computer. Connect directly to a USB port on the computer. While USB hubs allow many devices to connect to a computer they are not always reliable for high-speed connections like digital cameras. Connect to a port on the back of the computer. Many computers have extra USB ports on the front or on the keyboard. These are generally built-in hubs which may cause problems as described above. Connect to an AC adapter or use a freshly charged battery To prevent problems during transfer be sure that the camera has enough power to complete image transfers. Remove other devices To troubleshoot problems, remove any other USB devices and connect just the Nikon product for testing.
