Question about Canon PowerShot A540 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Canon powershot a540 won't start

I replaced the AA bateries, replaced the date batery - at first the camera worked for about a day. Now it won't keep the date; have to set the date every time I turn the camera on. Works only in the playback mode not in the shooting mode.

I would have typed it out, but I think you will be able to print it out and keep it this way. Good luck.

Every time I turn on my Canon A540 Powershot I get the black date/time screen. The date/time is all zero (the photo properties default to 1 Jan 1980) and I have to either enter the date/time or press...

Inside the battery compartment, right beside the AA batteries, there's a tiny little door labeled CR1220 (see this picture). Pry the door open with your fingernail, remove the little button battery located there, and take this battery down to your local drugstore to buy a replacement camera clock battery. Remember, it's a "CR1220" battery. It should cost only about $4.

Camera keeps saying to replace batteries even though new ones that have been checked with a meter and are OK are installed.

Are they the correct type of batteries? Use only AA-size Alkaline or Canon AA-size NiMH batteries.

When i put the new batery it will display "change the batery" and automatically power off the camera

This camera takes AA batteries. You must use good alkaline batteries or better, a set of high capacity NiMH recharegables. Zinc batteries just aren't up to the task.

New rechargeable batteries are supplied only partially charged. You need to charge them fully before use.

Clean the battery holder with a pencil eraser, otherwise go for good brand rechargeable battery AA 2700 mAh try it.

Low Batterie Sign

I had the same prolem. OK, try this. Try to discharge the AA batteries in some use, flashlight or else,,,,then recharge them, full charge, install the batteriers ...they should work fine....
I read somewhere that canon is able free of charge to correct a shortcircuit that the camera is susceptible to develop in the installation of batteries......But I hope the advise will work...
Remove batteries when not in use.
