Ipod Video 30GB and matching Logitech speaker/charger
Hi - just got my first Ipod Video 30GB and matching Logitech speaker/charger and I need to know how to charge it for the first time!
I can plug both of them in, and if I put the ipod in the Logitech, do I turn it on in order for it to charge up, or does it charge up even if it's switched off - the ipod, that is, not the Logitech unit.

The Batteries in these units like all rechargeable batteries only have a certain number of times they can be charged and discharged before begining to fail. Your only option is to replace the battery with a new one. They are cheap to purchase off eBay and YouTube has Videos detailing how to change them.
Try a manual reset by holding the center button and the play button together for at least 10-15 seconds, this should reset your iPod and should refresh the battery, In future do not let your battery run flat completely always keep a charge, and lastly charge through a wall charger and not from the usb port, good luck
First off make sure it is charged up,try plugging up to wall charger/or usb charger. If thats not problem & still wont turn on.you have to reset it by holding the TOP(up) button and the CENTER button at the same time to reset it. Hold both down until you see the apple logo appear & loading as soon as it loads up(give it a min) all will fine then & should play normally.
put it on a charger overnite, or for at least 4 hours. if u can help it, DO NOT use ur cp as a charger. After u do this it should go to "do not disconnect" the next time you plug it in to your computer.
:) hope this helps, tell me if you have any more problems, or if this doesnt help. Thanks :)
could be bad charger or time to replace the battery. lots of places sell new ipod batteries.
does it work if you leave it plugged into your computer for a few hours? if it does not then its a bad abttery.
Hi, This sounds like your battery may be going out. Try plugging it into a wall charger to see if it comes on and stays on.
Your circuit board may have a problem. Try doing the reset by holding the menu and action keys until the screen goes dark. Then quickly hold the action and play keys until you see a check mark and disk mode. If you can get the iPod to go into disk mode, the circuit board is probably OK and it is just the battery dying.
When it is disk mode, connect it to a wall charger to get to charge up or connect it to your 'puter to restore it. Hope that helps.
What type of IPod is this? Also what type of charger are you using? If the ipod does not have a charge at all you will need to plug it into a wall charger for it to get a "Base charge" (this usually takes 5-10 minutes) as if the ipod is totally dead then there is not enough of a charge for the ipod to let your computer know it is there to start being charged. After it has the base charge you can use the usb connection to finish the charge or leave it plugged into the wall charger to finish getting the charge.
