What are you trying to do? If you are just trying to solve a problem that is in your math book, then parentheses will act just as brackets, for example: [2(1+1)] = 4 (2(1+1)) = 4 These statements are exactly the same to your calculator. Just make sure to complete all of the parenthesis. If you are trying to do something else, from reading the calculator manual I was not able to find support for brackets.

How do you access special characters such as parenthesis and brackets on your keyboard

The shift key will make the common characters as marked on each applicable key available.

Other special characters, such as accents, are available but I am not sure how to make them accessible but your computer manual will provide details.

I am trying to add/subtract & multi/divide with a TI 30XS. I can't close the parenthesis. I'll enter the number, then x10n, the exponent, but when I try to close the parenthesis it display

Are you opening the parentheses in the first place? If you don't have a left parenthesis then you don't need a right parenthesis.

Could you post the exact sequence of keystrokes you're using?

7-2[3-2(x-4)] I receive a sytax error at the ending bracket

The square brackets [] are used for arrays and lists. Keep using parenthesis () instead.

7 - 2 ( 3 - 2 ( x - 4 ) )

Hi, I have a Casio fx-115s scientific calculator which I've had for around 25 years. I am unable to use the bracket function and have lost the instructions. Could you please give any advice to save me...

You should be able to use parentheses in the same order in which you would write the arithmetic expression. For example, 4*(3.5-1.5)= should give you 8. Without the parentheses, this would 12.5.

Essentially, the left parenthesis comes immediately after an arithmetic operator, and the right parenthesis must close the parenthetical expression right after a number, and an operator must follow the right parenthesis.

How do i put brackets in a problem

Use the parenthesis above the 8 and 9 keys. Don't use the curly braces on those shifted keys (those are for lists) nor the square brackets on the multiply and subract keys (those are for arrays).

I cannot find the way to make negative powers of ten on this calculator, and also how do I insert brackets into an equation? Thanks if you can help here.

For negative numbers (not just exponents), use the +()- key to the right of the decimal point. For brackets, use the parenthesis keys above the 8 and 9 keys. You can nest more than one set if needed.

How do I get the parenthesis ket to work?

There is not the slightest difference between them. Regardless of how they appear on the calculator or the screen they are parentheses.
