It's a low end fan for either Home Depot or Lowes. Call 1-888-830-1326 to order new switch. DO NOT CUT WIRES when replacing switch.

WHAT TYPE OF REMOTE DO I USE FOR A HAMPTON BAY CARRIAGE HOUSE II 52 INCH CEILING FAN WITH LIGHT

If it was an add-on remote, then you probably can use any remote. If it came with a remote ,then you must find out what kind of receiver is in the fan.

We have a Hampton Bay 60 in. Brookdale II ceiling fan and it did not include the 4 inch rod needed for 8' ceilings.

You should be able to get a down rod from Home Depot.
The down rods are similar from other suppliers like Lowes, or any lighting suopply store. Just bring the fan with you to be sure that they are the same size, and have the same attachment method.

I just purchased and installed a Hampton Bay palm beach 48' ceiling fan (close to ceiling mount)Problem is when turned on I hear an annoying hummmmmmmmmmmm, more of a hum at high speed and it graduates...

You have a rotating dimmer switch on the wall to control speed right? If so, it is the wrong type switch. The missed matched switch will cause the humming. Use a regular on/off switch and control speed with the pull string
