Scanner Issue I have the HP Officejet Pro L7580 and need to scan some items. My computer is accessing this all-in-one printer from a network. When I select the SCAN button on the printer, I get the following messages: Select Computer No scan options. Refer to device documentation to troubleshoot. Please help! Thank you!

When scanning to word from L7580 only a small portion of document can be seen.

First you have to do a Level 3 un-install. Do this by inserting the original disk that came with the printer.

go to "start" then "run" then type

e:\Util\CCC\Uninstall_L3.bat (or whatever drive you put the disk in)

This will uninstall the program completely from your computer.

Go to hp's website and download the hp basic feature package for IT professionals. Open the readme file and follow the instructions to install the program from the command line. Make sure your anti-virus software is turned off!

I just did this yesterday. It doesn't install a huge program on the computer that really slows it down. Plus it doesn't install all of the useless **** like customer participation program and **** like that.

You will be able to scan directly from Microsoft Word or any other program that has a scan feature. To scan from word (2003) go to "insert" then "picture" then "from scanner or camera" and follow the prompts. It works perfectly for me now. This was after many, many months of having the same problem you are having.

We have an HP Officejet Pro L7580, we never use the scanner or fax. Only used for making copies. When I attempt to make a copy, there is an alert sound, then it says scanner failure on both the computer...

u should be good even if ur not using the scanner or fax. in the printer settings check if ur actually mean printing it from the computer or scanning a document and printing it out through it. this needs to cleared out. btw check if ur using the correct driver. i prefer not to use the one that is automatically installed in windows. USE THE ONE THAT CAME WITH IT OR DOWNLOAD FROM HP.

I have network printer with scanner. Model is hp officejet pro L7580 printer. I installed a printer sucessfully but I want to use printer scanner. So how to install scanner & use it?

In order to install your scanner, you need to print a test page. As you need to align the cartridges, you also need to align your scanner. See the printed alignment page for directions on how to complete the alignment process. Basically, all you have to do is put the test page in the scanner and press scan.

Scanner function will not work.error message--"no scan options". have reinstalled software plus downloaded software from hp website.

Cobbled together a MS scan option that works with the L7580. Not very seamless but I'm scanning, viewing, saving and emailing OK.
Still wish I could get the darn L7580 to work via the "scan" button!

Don't know how to scan things. I have a HP Officejet Pro L7590.

That's usually done through the HP Image Zone software, assuming the scanner is physically connected and "visible" to the computer.

Printer says no scan options available

You have to have the scanner connected to your computer and HP scanning software running. The scan options come from your computer.

Getting error when trying to fax or scan

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.
