Question about IBM ThinkPad T30 2366 Notebook
I HAVE AN IBM T30 SERIES AND IT IS GIVING TROUBLE TO POWER UP. WHEN U PRESS THE POWER BUTTON ONLY THE LED COMES ON AND NOTHING APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. IF I LEAVE IT ON AND UNPLUG THE POWER CORD AND LEAVE IT FOR A WHILE, THEN KEEP PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON, IT WILL COME ON. ANY SOLUTIONS?
This is going to be a motherboard component, and there's not going to be a simple fix. The specific problem area will need to be located and replaced, if it's a replaceable component. The problem will most likely be with the power management system or chip, but there is several other chips, resistors, and capacitors that work in conjunction with the power management system that can cause this problem. I'm going to suggest either taking it in for a professional diagnostics, or replacing the motherboard if you can find one for a reasonable/affordable price. Speaking from experience, most places are going to tell you "new motherboard", so, if you are comfortable changing it yourself and you can get a good deal on one (check Ebay), go this route and save the money on the diagnosis.
