IBM thinkpad x31 w/ultrabay 2000 blu-ray drive question

I just bought an ultrabay 2000 for my thinkpad x31 winXPpro and would like to get a drive.  Will the 39T2853 blu-ray work in this situation?  ...tia!

I have discovered there is a blu-ray device 43n3200 but it requires an Ultrabay Enhanced to Ultrabay 2000 adapter 73P3268.  Further, some say the 16mb GPU (VPU) of the x31-2672XXL will not support blu-ray well.  Any thoughts?  My x31 is a P-IV-M1.4 w/2gbRAM and 120GBHDD.

If the bay is a DVD drive Blue Ray will work as long as you have a newer DVD decoding software. There are some decoders or codecs at IBM's support site, such as WinVid. If the codecs at IBM do not work with Blue Ray, then try download.com and search for DVD playing software.

My thinkpad 2378 will not play dvd any more what causes this

Hi, Unfortunalty this is an hardware failure there is nothing you can do. If you are under warranty i suggest you to contact the reseller/manufacturer to get a replacement unit, it should be no problem at all this is a common issue on thinkpads, CD/DVD player, HDD and batteries are the weakiest part of your system. Ususally you will receive the part directly from IBM with a explanation about how to swap it, does not requires any technical skill to replace this part ! Thanks and have a nice day J -

both hard drives will need to be jumpered to a master and a slave or both have to be jumpered to cable select. normally the jumper setting are either on the label of the drives or are marked on the bottom of the drives near the jumper drives. if the setting are not shown find the drive type, model and capacity then do a google search for the drive "select the factory manufacture link" and search their site for the jumper setting of the type drive you have.

Ibm t30

The T30 comes with ‘One, integrated, easy-loading modular Ultrabay(TM) 2000 Plus.’
You should be able to buy a DVDR Ultrabay™ 2000 Plus drive that will replace the floppy drive.

Having a trouble with my DVD-ROM - IBM ThinkPad T42

Internal the pickup assy. (the laser) there are three components that read the discs, one for DVD one for CD and one for the DVD-ROM its likely that the DVD-ROM laser has gone out. Take the drive out and get the part number and look it up online on ebay or the like :-)
