2) Check for any loose cables. If so, put them back in and start your ps3 again.
3) Put out your hard drive and put it back in again.
4) Delete all your saved games and install files. Delete everything that has to do with your games.
Nothing worked? Oh.. what a shame isn't it? It always has to be on the hard way to fix your PS3 not reading games problem.. Let's check out the last 2 options you have.
You could send your console back to Sony. This might sound like a good idea to let them fix your PS3 problem, but take a look at this. They first have to send you a shipping box - takes 1 week. Then you have to send it back, that's 1 week also, then there's the repair phase, takes 2 weeks. And after that they will send it back to you again, that's 5 weeks you have to wait!! Also, if you don't have your warranty anymore, you will have to pay $150 for the repair. Quite expensive for a small fix like this.
Ok a couple solutions. 1 Give it about a week and try it again it may work 2 bring it to a local repair shop i know i have numerous customers that do this i take apart everything and clean it up 3 send it pack to ps3 (too expensive)
unfortunately sounds like your laser is shot. if the disc inserted icon is showing yet no discs will be recognized in there relevent places on the xmb then i'm afraid your laser is most definatley...to put it technically...caput. if you have warranty use it immediatley.
send it back and get a replacement. no one here can help you. get a new ps3. it is not worth trying to fix it. if it is in warranty, you are in luck because you might get a new one for free as a replacement.
You can send it to 5000 Mobile Hwy Ste. 1 Pensacola, FL 32506. You can check with BBB.com to see we're a reputable business. Just box it up and send it via USPS. Make sure you record your serial number and pack it tight with peanuts. Also write fragile on the box as well. If you have any questions you can call my personal number at 850-602-6336. Thanks, Matt
the rails the dvd's insertion wheels ride on have jumped off track. it needs to be dissasembled and put back on track. its actually pretty easy to fix but it is a very delicate mechanism. I offer that repair for $60. Notify me if you need help. thanks
hey, it seems your ps3 optical drive might be broken. if you unplug and restart your console and it still doesn't spin at all, then the drive is just burnt out. if you have a warranty with a store, just bring it in, they should replace it right there. such as best buy. But, if you do not have a warranty or it has ran out, you will have to send it in to Sony. Sorry to be the barer of bad news, im sure this was not the answer you were hoping. i have had my share of console returns with the ps2. thanks for listening.
