Question about Digital Cameras

I have an Olympus D-340R. It powers on when I slide open the cover. However... it will not power on now. I used to notice a slight click when opening which I do not hear now. Is there another way to power on the camera? thanks

You can turn on the power by simply sliding open the lens barrier on the front of the camera until it clicks this is the only way to turn the camera on, Try checking the battery can be causing the problem..

Hope that helps.....

Basically the click was probably the connections touching each other and now one is broken. If you touch these connections together it should turn on but to access them you will need to open the outer panel of the camera and get to that section. If you need help, let me know and I will have you take pictures of the areas you are stuck at and email them to me on what to do.

please keep me informed

Olympus Camedia D 510 Lens cover not tight enough to keep power on.

The solution, by jimr929, to not touch the lens cover at all, works perfectly for me too, as mine is also a 2002 model.

Olympus digital camera c-830L driver for windows xp

Either use a Smartmedia reader, or download the D-340R driver (twain31.exe) from the Olympus America site.

The C-380L is the same camera as the D-340R

Are you talking about the sliding door that powers on the camera and covers the lens?
There is a metal plate with two screws on the bottom of the sliding door that holds the door to the camera, try tightening the screws and see if that helps. Or else see if the door is slightly bent out of shape, and try to bend it back if you can.
This is a common problem on the Stylus-300 camera, you can buy a replacement door from eBay -

Cover open, camera does not turn on.

Completely open lens cover by sliding the lens cover all the way to the right until you hear two clicks. The first click will put the camera into playback mode. The second click will put the camera into shooting mode.

Differences between the D-340L and the D-340R?

The Olympus D-340R is an updated model of the D-340L (which is no longer in production). They both have an SQ, HQ, and SHQ image quality setting, however, the D-340R has the additional ability to store an image file uncompressed in TIFF format. The D-340R also has the ability to magnify a portion of the image on the camera monitor LCD so that you can inspect the detail level of the picture. The D-340R includes a total of 8 MB of SmartMedia memory (either 2 - 4 meg or 1 - 8 meg card depending on the package) whereas the D-340L includes 4 meg. The LCD monitor is slightly smaller on the D-340R (1.8" versus 2.0"). The ISO rating is also slightly different (ISO 100/200 versus ISO 60/120) which allows a broader range of picture taking situations.
