It means u where disconnected from teh router your xbox was connected to.. id try a thicker cat 5 cable(ethernet). it also means u could have a weak connection to the live servers, like alot of ur connection speed is being hoged by another computer. cuz my friend has a hp desktop that takes majority of his bandwidth and it really lags him down on live.. that usually means disconnected is all. or the host cancled the game, like backed out.

It sounds like you've refused an Xbox Live Update at some point.
You can go into your system options and see if there's an update available.
To check for an update on the Xbox 360 you basically force a new Xbox Live connection:
  1. Press the Guide button (center logo button), bringing up the pop-up menu
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select System Settings
  4. Select Network Settings
  5. Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network if you're on wifi
  6. Select Test Xbox Live Connection
  7. Select Yes if prompted to update. If you're not prompted and the test completes successfully, you have the most recent update.
If that doesn't work try this link http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/927749-xbox-360/67807343

My xbox 360 says im connected to xbox live checked network setings and it says xb ox live is up and running...however when i try to play need for speed online..it says xbox live not working functionally?...

Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings." Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.) Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP. Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

I have a problem getting "connection interrupted" every couple of minutes on call of duty 4 over XBOX live. My ISP is comcast and I have a 6mb download speed that I verified on my computer. I am...

Ok Well, The Connection Interrupted, can be caused by some other player, or as i should say the host, the host of the match is probably lacking of internet connection, wich is mainly causing the problem for the ConnectIon Interrupted. -Sinan

XBOX LIVE WILL SIGN ME OUT SAYING "CONNECTION INTERRUPTED"

your best bet would to be get a wireless adapter for the 360 and use it that way. then you won't have to pair it up with your laptop. i believe you lose half connection speed doing it that way.

Xbox Live Connection Interrupted

Ok, all you have to do when it comes to buying a wireless reciever is to buy the microsoft brand one made for xbox live. (100 dollars) Once you have this;
1. turn of the xbox 360 and plug in the adapter.
2.turn on the 360 and go to the network settings option
3. this should bring up a page offering a view of you ip address and ect., go to the bottom link (3rd), and select it.
4. this should give you the option to select your wireless network, then connect to it and test the xbox live connection.
5. Once you pass the test, continue to hit "b" until you are back at the very main menu and begin playing!

I had this problem for a couple of months before looking into it and I stummbled across this site. None of the solutions worked so I tried other things. The one way that worked was restarting the entire network I havent had a problem since. Enjoy.
