I have not had a problem with this in the past, but recently when I try uploading my pictures, I plug in the USB cable and the camera shuts off. The minute I take the cable out from the camera it turns back on.

I actually have considered doing that as well. Thank you for the suggestion.

Try this...plug in the cable with the camera turned off....then turn it on when connected.

It is off when I plug it in...when I turn it on it goes on for a second and shuts off

Rather than agonize over what may be the problem, why not just use a separate card reader? That's what the pros do to avoid problems such as yours. I just found one at Walmart that reads 35 different cards and only costs $13. You can't beat that.

DV1020 Digital camera, hooked up to my Compaq lap top Via USB cable I set the camera to USB and Computer, plug in the USB, It says connecting then the camera shuts off except for the green light. Where are...

Go to My Computer and see if you see your camera as a drive or folder. If so, create a folder on your hard drive and name it a name that you will remember. Then open the camera's folder or drive. Select all the images in the camera, copy and paste them to the new folder you created. When you get to face book and select photo and select the option to upload them. Then select the folder contents to upload.

What mode should camera be in to upload pictures does it matter if you connect usb cable to ccamera or computer first

It should be in playback mode. It doesn't matter if you plug in camera first or computer first but it does matter that you have to first install the proper drivers for your camera on your computer. The proper drivers is on the CD that came with your camera. Install that first before connecting your camera to your computer. Personally, I don't like to connect camera to computer unless I'm doing an update to the firmware. I would suggest buying a USB memory card reader if your computer/laptop doesn't have one already. Then I upload my pictures by removing the memory card from the camera and plug into the USB card reader. Best of luck.

HOW CAN I UPLOAD PICTURES FROM MY DIGITAL CAMARA WITHOUT A SOFTWARE DISC?

Hi Amimbue 1985,there are a few ways to upload pictures without using a software disc.

Option1 :

Transfer your photos to your computer with a use of a USB cable provided with your camera.

Connect the USB cable to your camera and computer. Your PC will recognize it as an external storage and you can copy your pictures from it.

How to copy pictures:
1. Go to my computer
2.Select the drive for your camera and go to the folder where all your pictures are
3.Ctrl + A (to select all pictures)
4.Create a folder for your pictures on your local drive (or you may also paste it on any existing folder)
5.Ctrl + V to paste pictures on folders

Once you have a local copy on your computer you may then upload on any web applications that you wish, such as facebook or flicker etc.

Option 2:
You may also use Google's software called Picasa, it's free for downloading.

Please visit this link for the application:
http://www.google.com/picasa/

How to download Picasa

1. Download Picasa by visiting:
http://www.google.com/picasa/
2. Click " download Picasa "
3. Click save file once prompted and save it on your desktop for easy viewing.
(if you are using firefox, wait for it to download and just double click on it to run the application once done)
4.Run the picasa application on your desktop to install the software.
5. It is recommended to restart your computer after installation.
6.Plug the USB cable from your camera and computer and picasa will automatically get your pictures from your camera.

(you may now have the option to upload your pictures )

I hope this helps.

Once you have download and installed the application, it will automatically get the pictures on your camera once plugged in. You may upload it directly to picasa or any web application of your choice.

My computer is not showing when my camera is plugged in

Make sure the camera is turned on, plug the USB cable into your PC first, then into the camera, wait for a beep from your PC to show it has recognized the hookup, then go to "My Computer" and look for the Fuji icon. Don't unplug the camera anytime the lights are flashing on it.

PC shuts down when c-770 is conected via USB

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.
