Hello vikasshar206:
Are you sure you are saving the settings in the Bios before you exit it?
If that's not the problem then make sure you are using a brand new battery (I have gotten bad brand new batteries before so that's why I mention it) for the motherboard and also check to see if there is a jumper setting that will reset your Bios. You will have to check your motherboard manual to find the cmos reset jumper location.

My date is not getting set in bios

Change the CMOS battery.

If you had taken the time to post the computer manufacturer name, and model number; I would know what motherboard we're dealing with, and what type of CMOS battery it uses.

Generally the battery is a CR2032.
A type of watch battery.
Positive ( + ) side ALWAYS goes UP

I set date & time on my acer aspire, but it will not stay set it just stays on the date & time ive set. help! fred.

Welcome to FixYa!

-try doing these steps.
1) Enter the CMOS setup
-to enter the CMOS or BIOS setup, shutdown the computer completely -then once you press the power button to turn it on, keep on tapping on F2. (for some computer its F1, del, F10)
2)In the main or system setup screen you should be able to see the date and time. Using your arrow keys, navigate to the date and change the date. Once highlighted on the month, day, or year, press your arrow keys or your page up / page down keys to change the date.
These steps may vary for your BIOS; additional help, information, and simulations can be found on the BIOS help page.
3)after you have configured the time and date, save your settings and exit.
4)if it still would'nt hold the time you have setup, it could be a possible virus issue, or the CMOS battery on your computer could be degraded.
Hope this steps would help!
Have a great day!

I could not save the system time & date. The time & date remains till there system is not rebooted. After reboot it changes time again

The most possible cause for that is the cmos battery at the mainboard. Open the case and try to locate a round small battery like this
0a76ded.jpg
Remove it and using this as a sample buy a new one (it's about 2-5Euros cost). Repalce with the new one and you are ready. After changing the battery a good advice is to get into the bios settings and check them, because sometimes are resetting at default after changing the battery.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post me a reply.

Clearing cmos

The BIOS battery maybe under one of the panels on the bottom of the laptop or under the keyboard.
To reset the BIOS ack to the default settings, go into the BIOS configuration and look at the various configurations, usually there is a setting to load the Default settings, then save and exit, and this would not change the Date & Time setting.
The other way to set the BIOS default setting is to remove the BIOS battery (it is probably a lithium 3volt button battery), wait 1/2 hour and replace the battery, the go into the BIOS configuration and set the Date & Time setting etc.
