Please check your cords for continuity, try using another pair. If that doesnot work, try to hook it up with another sound system, like a receiver besides your TV.
This way you will able to narrow down if your camcorder audio output is defective. Good Luck.

Hi,

If you are going to hook up the DVD player to your TV through RCA cords, see the picture below.

Hook up the yellow RCA cord at the Video-in at the back of the TV and the other end at the Video out of the DVD player to get the video.

Hook up the red RCA cord at the Audio-in(right channel) at the back of the TV and the other end at the Audio-out of the DVD player.
Hook up the white/black RCA cord at the Audio-in(left channel) at the back of the TV and the other end at the Audio-out of the DVD player.

Red and white/black RCA cord is for the sound.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

What do i need to play back recorded video onto my t.v from my sony handycam dcr-trv260...i have s cord, usb cord, yellow rca jack??? so what else do i need!!!...nothing i have tried has worked???please...

You can connect this camera to a suitable TV with either the S-Video lead or the RCA lead, but only if the TV is equipped with the appropriate inputs. The S-Video lead looks like a tiny DIN plug, and the RCA jacks are three separate plugs coloured red, white and yellow (yellow is composite video, red and white are left and right stereo sound). If you use S-Video you will also need to make a separate connection for sound (using the red and white RCA connectors). Sometimes the TV sound input is a mini stereo jack, and you will need a Y connector to adapt the two RCA connectors to the mini jack, or maybe the camera's sound output is also by mini jack, in which case you may need the reverse Y connector. Most TVs have some way of accepting a video signal, but you may already be using it for a DVD player or the like.

If your TV lacks these connections, you may be able to use an adapter. In the UK, most recent TVs have a SCART (Peritel) socket, which takes a big plug with 21 connections on it. You can get an adapter to fit that socket that will allow you to plug in the RCA connectors and maybe the S-video too. I don't know what country you are in, or what adapters are available in your country if it isn't the UK.

Once you have made the connections, you must select the appropriate input on your TV. The other possible hiccup is setting the camera to the right video standard, NTSC or PAL., to match that used by your TV.

The USB cord will not connect your camera to the TV.

The S-video cable carries picture only. You need to also hook up RCA audio cables from the camcorder to the TV

Different sound to picture

When connecting VCR to TV. Verify all connections. First if the connection is with coaxial cable make sure you signal from outside is screwed to the cable input on VCR. Then the VCR/TV output has the cable running to TV input. If hooking up with RCA cables , which is the yellow, red, and white cables. Hook one side up to VCR output. Yellow for Video, while red/white to audio output matching the colors. The same is done to the Television input. yellow for video, red/white for audio. Do a test recording. Use a blank tape, not one already recorded on. Record about 5 minutes Stop recording , rewind and playback. You should see the difference.

If you asking to watch camera playback on TV, you need to hook supplied a-v cord as in below picture. A-V cord looks like 3 RCA pins yellow-red-white and other end is like headphone jack.

I will ilustrate how you do this .. first your magnavox dvd has a cord, has three defferent color of RCA jack yellow ,red and white, yellow is for video, red is for the rigth speaker and white for the left speaker. the video or yellow cord is input to the TV in the VIDEO 1 section the red and white cord is input to your old surround sound, next is your DISH network the output cord is going to input to the VIDEO 2 section in TV.. the video cord color yellow and the red and white to the is going to input in old surround sound, and the out of your old surround is for the speakers...if happens that your sound is one input by a Y RCA jack ,Y jack HAVE ONE INPUT and two output,,,feel free for asking question for further assistance in the future rate me a fixya.....

You can get the sound to play by hooking up an additional cord to the audio jacks - the same as you would do if you didn't use the s-video. I am still working on the b & w issue

I hook my cam corder up to the my tv it will play but no sound

You are likely using the S-Video cable (multi-pin cable that connects to the front of the camera below the spotlight). This cable carries video but not audio. To get audio, use the multi RCA to 1/8" adapter (has red, yellow, and white cables and plugs into the side of the camera)
