Hi, I have a msi n1996 865gvm3-v motherboard and it doesn't want to pick up my sata drive, what to do?

If you are trying to install Windows XP and it does not detect the SATA hard drive.
The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

I am not able to detect sata hard disk in msi mother board

Your model K8MM-V motherboard does not have a SATA controller only IDE disk controllers and therefore it cannot detect a SATA hard drive.
To install a SATA hard drive on this motherboard you need to purchase a PCI SATA disk controller and install it on the PCI expansion slot and then attach the SATA hard disk to this SATA controller.

500 Gb sata hdd not detected on k8mm-v motherboard

Find in your BIOS if you have an option that says configure SATA as IDE, AHCI and raid. Set it at IDE and try again to install the OS. After intaling do not switch back because it will not work.

Windows Installation gives blue screen errors.

Hi, at the boot up go into your bios [ on MSI press the delte key continuosly] and turn OFF the onboard virus protection. This can block all O/S from loading as they need to write to the bios in the installation process. Ensure you turn it back on after installation, it is there to stop hackers getting into your bios and wrecking your system. Regards mistyman
