Downloading pictures to my computer

I have loaded the CD and have the connection to the computer. The computer acknowledges the camera, but I keep getting the message that the device is NOT connected or is busy and that i should connect and try again.

I have the camera plugged into the computer and the screen turns blue and says msdc

That's perfectly normal. The camera is merely acknowledging the connection to the computer. You control the picture download process from the computer.

You might want to consider NOT connecting the camera to the computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

You can download the current versions of Nikon software from Nikon's web site at http://support.nikontech.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/61

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software". Nikon Transfer and Nikon ViewNX will perform those functions.

Nikon camera doesn't acknowledge that it is connected when trying

Hello
Did you turn the camera on when you connected it? One solution is to take the memory card from your camera and plug it in the computer (if need be using a 5 to 1 card reader).

Hope it helps

I am unable to transfer my pictures from my camera using the lumix cd.i have connected the camera to the usb port but yhe computer fails to acknowledge its presence

You probably don't have the drivers installed. Did you first do a "set up" from the CD that came with the camera? It would be necessary to install the software onto your computer - not just insert the CD into the computer.
