Question about Hampton Bay 52 In.Carriage House II in Polished and Satin Brass Finish Fan
I am trying to install the light kit that came with this fan and have an orange wire that is inside light kit that is not connected to anything. Does it stay this way or does it need to be connected to some of the other wires inside kit or should it be installed to a wire from the fan?

SOURCE: need wiring instructions
The wiring is pretty self explainitory with the wireless receiver. As for installing the receiver; get the wiring done and then zipstrip the receiver to the side of the motor mount bracket. Just make sure that you put it where it clears the canopy (motor cover).

SOURCE: Wiring light kit to ceiling fan
connect the white wires from light kit filter to the white wire labeled "for light" from fan. then connect black wire from light kit filter to blue wire from fan. use wire nuts to make the connections

Those connections sound OK ,, now you have to go to the canopy and see if all the wires for the fan/light are connected to a house wire. If there are two switches , then the blue fan wire would connect to the red wire .. it may be capped off in the ceiling. If there is only one control switch , then the blue wire from the fan will connect to the same ceiling wire as the black fan wire does.

SOURCE: i bought a house with
If you have the fan working are sure there is not a light switch some where in th room that goes to the light side of the fan.and the chain for the light will have to be pulled to on also.is it a remote control fan that would have a remote that has been lost.some fans have a little black box in them that is a radio cntrl.you should be able to remove the fan with a few screws at the base next to the ceileing.be careful they can be heavy.
